Gemini stated that it is working with regulators to meet the conditions for a full-scale launch.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Jennings, Gemini's head of Europe, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gemini.com\/blog\/gemini-has-obtained-its-mifid-ii-license\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This is a hugely exciting development in our 2025 European expansion, as it puts Gemini one step closer to offering our derivative products to both retail and institutional users in the EU and the EEA.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The approval came months after Gemini received an initial nod from Malta\u2019s regulator. It also follows the company\u2019s decision to base its <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/gemini-joins-europes-crypto-race-with-maltas-regulatory-approval\/\">European licensing efforts in Malta<\/a>, which is widely seen as a favorable jurisdiction for crypto businesses.<\/p>\n<h2>Gemini targets Europe<\/h2>\n<p>According to the exchange, the licensing forms part of its broader strategy to grow its European footprint in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The exchange added that this approval creates new opportunities for growth in one of the world\u2019s most promising crypto markets.<\/p>\n<p>Gemini said it will continue working toward acquiring a Markets in Crypto-Assets (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/mica-goes-live-in-europe-as-the-crypto-regulatory-framework-starts-with-stablecoins\/\">MiCA<\/a>) license, which would enable it to provide a broader suite of regulated crypto services across EU member states.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Gemini\u2019s European push reflects a broader industry trend, as more crypto firms shift their <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/moonpay-approved-under-mica-to-operate-in-the-eu\/\">operations to jurisdictions with clear regulatory frameworks<\/a>.
