{"id":473800,"date":"2025-04-09T12:28:27","date_gmt":"2025-04-09T11:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=473800"},"modified":"2025-04-09T16:52:46","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T15:52:46","slug":"cboe-eyes-first-us-sui-etf-for-altcoin-investors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cboe-eyes-first-us-sui-etf-for-altcoin-investors\/","title":{"rendered":"Cboe files for first US Sui spot ETF for altcoin investors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cboe BZX Exchange has officially submitted Form 19b-4 to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to list an exchange-traded fund (ETF) tied to the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/sui\/\">Sui<\/a> blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>The April 8 filing <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.cboe.com\/resources\/regulation\/rule_filings\/pending\/2025\/SR-CboeBZX-2025-053.pdf\">stated<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Cboe BZX Exchange, Inc. is filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (&#8216;Commission' or &#8216;SEC') a proposed rule change to list and trade shares of the Canary SUI ETF.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If approved, the fund would offer regulated exposure to the SUI token, which has a market capitalization of over $6.4 billion.<\/p>\n<p>This would make it a landmark product for altcoin investors in traditional markets as it would introduce the first ETF in the US market that holds the SUI token.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the ETF could stake some of its SUI holdings to generate on-chain rewards.<\/p>\n<p>According to the filing:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Sponsor may stake, or cause to be staked, all or a portion of the Trust\u2019s SUI through one or more trusted staking providers (&#8216;Staking Providers').&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Sui team <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.sui.io\/canary-capital-sui-etf\/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=defi\">sees<\/a> this development as a strong vote of confidence from traditional finance. They believe it further validates Sui\u2019s potential as a high-speed asset coordination layer for decentralized and institutional ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past six months, the Sui ecosystem has attracted heavyweight traditional financial institutions like <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/franklin-templeton\/\">Franklin Templeton<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/grayscale-investments\/\">Grayscale<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/vaneck\/\">VanEck<\/a>, and Ant Financial. These firms have rolled out various investment tools, from tokenized funds to exchange-traded notes, designed to leverage Sui\u2019s scalable infrastructure.<\/p>\n<h2>Crypto ETFs gain momentum<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1602\" data-end=\"1757\">The Sui ETF filing is part of a broader wave of crypto-focused investment products gaining traction in the US amid a more favorable regulatory landscape.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1759\" data-end=\"2040\">Canary Capital, for instance, recently filed to launch a <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/canary-capital-breaks-new-ground-with-an-nft-inclusive-crypto-etf-featuring-pudgy-penguins\/\">hybrid ETF<\/a> combining cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1759\" data-end=\"2040\">The proposed fund would offer exposure to digital assets like <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/solana\/\">Solana<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> alongside collectibles such as Pudgy Penguins and the PENGU token.<\/p>\n<p>In another notable launch, Teucrium introduced a leveraged <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/xrp\/\">XRP<\/a> ETF on April 8.
