{"id":469442,"date":"2025-03-13T00:00:51","date_gmt":"2025-03-13T00:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=469442"},"modified":"2025-03-12T23:07:47","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T23:07:47","slug":"tether-ceo-touts-usdt-as-key-us-ally-in-maintaining-the-dollars-dominance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/tether-ceo-touts-usdt-as-key-us-ally-in-maintaining-the-dollars-dominance\/","title":{"rendered":"Tether CEO touts USDT as key US ally in maintaining the dollar&#8217;s dominance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/tether\/\">Tether<\/a> CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/paolo-ardoino\/\">Paolo Ardoino<\/a> argued that Tether is the \u201cmost important ally for the US&#8221; in its goal of maintaining the dollar's dominance in the global economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He made the statement during <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Official_Cantor\/status\/1899889658605039920\">presentation<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/cantor-fitzgerald\/\">Cantor Fitzgerald\u2019s<\/a> Global Technology Conference on March 12, where he also noted that crypto companies want to copy Strategy or Tether\u2019s business models since they are &#8220;very profitable and exciting.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ardoino said that Tether USD (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/tether\/\">USDT<\/a>) is the product responsible for creating the stablecoin industry.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also highlighted the firm\u2019s 13% user growth over the past quarter, reaching 400 million users worldwide. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ardoino credited Tether and stablecoins' growth to the US dollar. He explained:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;Is it because we are great in marketing? Is that because we are fantastic? No. The reason why the growth is so fast is that, if you go outside the US, stop 1,000 people in the streets and ask them if they would prefer to hold the US dollar or would they prefer to hold their national currency, every single one of them will say &#8216;I prefer to hold the dollar.'&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>Important ally for the US<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ardoino also stated that Tether\u2019s goal is to be the most transparent company in the world and argued that the company is a key ally for the US in its goal of maintaining the dollar's global hegemony.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He noted that Tether holds $113 billion in US Treasuries, making it the 19th largest US debt holder and placing it ahead of most countries in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ardoino reiterated his March 11 speech at the Bitcoin Policy Institute\u2019s event, \u201cBitcoin for America,\u201d about USDT\u2019s role in<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/usdt-will-save-dollar-from-gold-backed-brics-currency-says-tether-ceo-paolo-ardoino\/\">safeguarding the US dollar's dominance<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He claimed that USDT is the only way people can access the US dollar in many emerging markets, which has significantly spread US presence in these countries via stablecoins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Ardoino, this would be especially important due to the impending threat of BRICS, which is gearing up to launch a gold-backed coin to challenge the US dollar's dominance in the global market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;They [BRICS] will eventually announce a gold-backed currency, and when they build the entire infrastructure in the emerging markets, when they build roads, when they build everything that you can think of, it will be very easy to push a new currency.
