The service will roll out to a select group before expanding to all private banking customers in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>The bank has confirmed that it will rely on its in-house cryptographic key custody system to ensure complete control and enhanced user security. However, it will not provide investment advice, leaving clients to manage their crypto transactions.<\/p>\n<h2>MiCA-fueled expansion<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"610\" data-end=\"912\">BBVA\u2019s entry into the Spanish crypto market follows a growing trend of traditional financial institutions embracing digital assets, particularly after the introduction of Europe\u2019s Markets in Crypto-Assets (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/mica-goes-live-in-europe-as-the-crypto-regulatory-framework-starts-with-stablecoins\/\">MiCA) framework<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"610\" data-end=\"912\">MiCA establishes a unified regulatory structure for digital assets across the European Union, aiming to standardize rules and eliminate regulatory discrepancies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"914\" data-end=\"1301\">Meanwhile, the bank\u2019s involvement with digital assets began in 2021 when it launched <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bbva-switzerland-selects-ripple-owned-metaco-to-power-digital-asset-operations\/\">crypto services in Switzerland<\/a>, leveraging the country\u2019s Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) guidelines.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"914\" data-end=\"1301\">In 2023, BBVA expanded its crypto footprint through Garanti BBVA in T\u00fcrkiye, offering custody solutions for various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/solana\/\">Solana<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/avalanche\/\">Avalanche<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/chiliz\/\">Chiliz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1633\">With MiCA regulations in place, BBVA is extending its services to Spain.
