The distribution will begin at 10:00 A.M. Eastern Time on Feb. 18.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Large creditors must wait<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Convenience Class payout marks a significant milestone in FTX's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ftx-bankruptcy-managers-accused-of-spending-funds-on-luxury-hotels-travel-as-creditors-file-legal-action\/\">bankruptcy proceedings<\/a>, but it does not resolve the larger claims that are still pending.<\/p>\n<p>While smaller creditors will receive 100% of their adjudicated claims, larger investors \u2014 including institutional firms and venture capital backers \u2014 are awaiting a resolution that remains subject to legal disputes and asset recovery efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/crypto-influencers-spark-false-hope-on-ftx-payouts-actual-plan-set-for-march-2025\/\">broader bankruptcy proceedings<\/a>, led by FTX's new management team under CEO John J. Ray III, have focused on asset recovery efforts, including legal action against former executives and third parties that allegedly benefited from the exchange's mismanagement.<\/p>\n<p>The upcoming distributions come as FTX seeks to finalize its liquidation plan and return funds to creditors. However, larger claims remain subject to more complex legal and financial considerations, with negotiations continuing over the final distribution of remaining assets.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>FTX bankruptcy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Once one of the largest crypto exchanges in the world, FTX was valued at $32 billion before its sudden collapse in November 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The implosion was triggered by revelations that <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/alameda-research\/\">Alameda Research<\/a>, a trading firm closely tied to FTX, had misused customer funds to cover its own losses.\u00a0When customers rushed to withdraw their deposits, the exchange was unable to meet the demand, forcing it to halt withdrawals and file for bankruptcy.<\/p>\n<p>The scandal sent shockwaves through the crypto industry, leading to criminal charges against FTX founder and former CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/sam-bankman-fried\/\">Sam Bankman-Fried<\/a>. In November 2023, he was convicted on multiple counts of fraud and conspiracy for misusing billions in customer assets.<\/p>\n<p>Other former FTX executives, including Alameda Research CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/caroline-ellison\/\">Caroline Ellison<\/a> and FTX co-founder Gary Wang, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/caroline-ellison-sentenced-to-24-months-in-prison-for-her-role-in-ftx-collapse\/\">pleaded guilty<\/a> to related charges and cooperated with authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Since taking over as CEO in November 2022, restructuring expert <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/john-j-ray-iii\/\">John J. Ray III<\/a> has led efforts to locate and reclaim FTX's lost assets.
