During his tenure, Behnam oversaw significant developments in the regulatory oversight of cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n

While his approach was less aggressive than the Gary Gensler<\/a>-led Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Behnam frequently highlighted<\/a> the lack of comprehensive regulation in the digital asset market.<\/p>\n

So, he has consistently called for collaborative efforts between regulatory bodies to close gaps in oversight.<\/p>\n

Under his leadership, the CFTC spearheaded significant enforcement actions<\/a> within the crypto sector. The regulator played a key role in the record $4.3 billion fine against Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange.<\/p>\n

Additionally, it recently secured a $5 million settlement<\/a> from Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss over allegations that they misled the agency during their bid to launch a Bitcoin futures product.<\/p>\n
