The Central American nation currently holds 5,968 BTC, worth approximately $594 million, and is positioning itself as a global hub for crypto innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She also highlighted the government's continued commitment to integrating Bitcoin into its financial and educational systems, alongside efforts to attract global investment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent financial advancements include the tokenized issuance of US Treasuries on the Liquid Network, developed in collaboration with NexBridge. Herbert teased more announcements regarding capital markets initiatives tied to Bitcoin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, Bitcoin-related educational programs are also expanding. The government plans to roll out Bitcoin workbooks for grades 2 and 3 students by January 2025, alongside ongoing developer training and high school courses under &#8220;Mi Primer Bitcoin&#8221; and Node Nation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, a certification program aimed at training 80,000 civil servants continues under the ESIAP initiative.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El Salvador is also restructuring its digital wallet ecosystem. It plans to sell or shut down the state-backed Chivo Wallet while allowing private Bitcoin wallet services to flourish.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>El Salvador closes financing deal<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notably, these efforts come after El Salvador closed a<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/el-salvador-agrees-to-scale-back-bitcoin-policies-for-1-4-billion-imf-loan\/\">$1.4 billion financing agreement<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Dec. 18, which had previously urged El Salvador to limit its exposure to Bitcoin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The $1.4 billion loan deal with the IMF represents a critical financial lifeline for El Salvador but comes with stipulations.
