Ripple said it remains committed to launching<\/span>\u00a0the stablecoin under the regulator's supervision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notably, New York requires crypto firms offering services to state residents to get a BitLicense or a limited-purpose trust company charter from the NYDFS.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Heavy competition<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The stablecoin market supply reached an all-time high of $193.6 billion on Dec. 8 and is at $192.8 billion as of press time. The market is heavily concentrated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/tether\/\">Tether<\/a> USD (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/tether\/\">USDT<\/a>), which boasts a size of nearly $141 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a result, competing in this market becomes challenging. One recent example was <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/paypal\/\">PayPal\u2019s<\/a> stablecoin <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/paypal-usd\/\">PYUSD<\/a>, which saw its market cap shrink roughly 50% between late August and the time of publication.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/ethena-labs\/\">Ethena's<\/a> stablecoin <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethena-usde\/\">USDe<\/a>\u00a0has gained ground in the past few weeks, with a market size of over $5.6 billion, driven by incentive programs. Notably, this is larger than Sky's (former <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/makerdao\/\">MakerDAO<\/a>) stablecoins' market cap combined.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PYUSD surpassed $1 billion in market cap when its incentive program was live on the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/solana\/\">Solana<\/a> decentralized ecosystem, shrinking following its end.
