{"id":452694,"date":"2024-11-12T18:48:14","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T18:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=452694"},"modified":"2024-11-12T18:48:14","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T18:48:14","slug":"canary-capital-files-application-for-a-spot-hbar-etf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/canary-capital-files-application-for-a-spot-hbar-etf\/","title":{"rendered":"Canary Capital files application for a spot HBAR ETF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nashville-based asset manager Canary Capital<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/2039458\/000199937124014510\/hbar_s1-111224.htm\">filed<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> an S-1 form for an exchange-traded fund (ETF) tied to HBAR, the native asset of the Hedera blockchain. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The move comes weeks after Canary's filed for an HBAR trust and adds to its growing repertoire of applications for spot ETFs connected to <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/litecoin\/\">Litecoin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/xrp\/\">XRP<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/solana\/\">Solana<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the news, HBAR surged nearly 28%, according to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CryptoSlate<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> data. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The token is currently the 48th largest crypto by market cap, with a fully diluted value of roughly $3.3 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ETF Store CEO Nate Geraci<\/span> had <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NateGeraci\/status\/1855794053423452381\">predicted<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that more crypto-related ETFs would be filed this week, fueled by the expectations of a more crypto-friendly environment in the US due to the elections.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the HBAR ETF surprised some market analysts, who were expecting applications connected to more prominent assets in the top 50.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Analysts surprised<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0In his prediction earlier this week, Geraci said he expects new filings for ETFs linked to Cardano, Solana, and XRP. He jokingly said that he was &#8220;serious&#8221; about the filing for HBAR in a social media, highlighting his surprise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bloomberg senior ETF analyst <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/eric-balchunas\/\">Eric Balchunas<\/a> echoed the sentiment, commenting that this is the &#8220;post-Trump spaghetti cannon in effect.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EricBalchunas\/status\/1856388963470025177\">added<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cOnce every two years or so there an ETF filing where I literally have to use google to understand what it tracks.
