XMR suffered the most delistings, with a 6x yearly increase, while DASH experienced the second-highest number of delistings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the report, these delistings are primarily driven by regulatory pressure in various jurisdictions over the past years.<\/p>\n<h2>Regulatory pressure<\/h2>\n<p>According to Chainalysis, Japan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chainalysis.com\/blog\/privacy-coins-anonymity-enhanced-cryptocurrencies\/#:~:text=Privacy%20coin%20bans&text=Japan%20banned%20privacy%20coins%20in,the%20European%20Union%20considering%20bans.\">banned<\/a> privacy coins' trading in 2018. In 2020, Australian and South Korean regulators followed this move and started pressuring crypto exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>Other significant jurisdictions that have banned privacy tokens include the UAE, which released its crypto rules last year, and the EU, which implemented the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Surging regulatory pressure has resulted in many crypto exchanges delisting privacy tokens. <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/kraken\/\">Kraken<\/a> <\/span>recently<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/monero-declines-5-kraken-to-discontinues-support-in-eea-amid-regulatory-demands\/\">removed<\/a> access to XMR trading pairs for European users, while <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/binance\/\">Binance<\/a> completely delisted the token from its platform.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/okx\/\">OKX<\/a> delisted its privacy token trading pairs in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.okx.com\/help\/okx-to-delist-several-spot-trading-pairs-12-29\">January<\/a> of this year, while <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/htx\/\">Huobi<\/a> started its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.htx.com\/support\/104917015223952\">removal efforts<\/a> in September 2022. All of the exchanges cited regulatory pressure as the primary factor behind their decisions.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Kaiko report, crypto trading platforms facing lesser regulatory scrutiny, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/poloniex\/\">Poloniex<\/a> and Yobit, have captured part of the trading volume for privacy tokens.<\/p>\n<p>The two exchanges now represent nearly 40% of the trading volume for top privacy tokens, up from just 18% in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the demand for these tokens has become so high on these platforms that they often exceed order book liquidity, the report added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Privacy tokens underwent nearly 60 delistings by centralized exchanges this year, a record since 2021, according to a recent Kaiko report.
