{"id":430669,"date":"2024-07-04T02:00:35","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T01:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=430669"},"modified":"2024-07-04T00:50:11","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T23:50:11","slug":"bitcoin-miners-marathon-riot-double-hash-rate-yoy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitcoin-miners-marathon-riot-double-hash-rate-yoy\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin miners Marathon, Riot double hash rate YoY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin (BTC)<\/a> miners <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/marathon-digital\/\">Marathon Digital<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/riot-platforms\/\">Riot Platforms<\/a> have doubled their hash rate since June 2023 amid various degrees of change at other firms.<\/p>\n<p>On <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.mara.com\/news-events\/press-releases\/detail\/1361\/mara-announces-bitcoin-production-and-mining-operation\">July 3<\/a>, Marathon reported an average operational hash rate of 26.3 exahashes per second (EH\/s) in June, representing a 102% yearly increase from 13.0 EH\/s. The change also marks a 2% monthly increase from 25.8 EH\/s. The company targets 50 EH\/s by year-end.<\/p>\n<p>Marathon attributed its rising hash rate to operational improvements at its Ellendale facility and to the site becoming fully operational in July.<\/p>\n<p>Marathon produced 590 BTC in June, down 4% from 616 BTC in May.<\/p>\n<p>The company also increased its Bitcoin holdings to 18,536 BTC, up 4% from 17,857 BTC in May. As of June 30, Marathon held $1.4 billion in total cash and Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<h2>Riot also doubles hash rate<\/h2>\n<p>On <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riotplatforms.com\/riot-announces-june-2024-production-and-operations-updates\/\">July 3<\/a>, Riot Platforms said it achieved a 22.0 EH\/s hash rate in June, marking a 106% increase from 10.7 EH\/s in June 2023 and a 50% increase from 14.7 EH\/s in May.<\/p>\n<p>The company increased its hash rate by adding 7.3 EH\/s to its hash rate capacity in two buildings at its Corsicana facility. It also used the available capacity at its Rockdale facility.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin production rose slightly month-over-month: Riot generated 255 BTC in June, up 19% from 215 BTC in May. It held <span class=\"prnews_span\">9,334<\/span> BTC in June, up 3% from <span class=\"prnews_span\">9,084 BTC in May.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Other performance reports<\/h2>\n<p>At least two more firms have nearly doubled their hash rate over various periods. <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cleanspark-mines-445-btc-in-june-exceeds-20-eh-s-target-with-georgia-expansion\/\">CleanSpark<\/a> recently reported doubling its hash rate since December 2023, while <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitfarms-reports-21-increase-in-bitcoin-production-amid-upgrades-and-takeover-drama\/\">BitFarms<\/a> raised its month-end hash rate from 5.3 EH\/s to 10.4 EH\/s year-over-year.<\/p>\n<p>Some firms have reported lesser hash rate increases. <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/cipher-mining\/\">Cipher Mining<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/investors.ciphermining.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/cipher-mining-announces-june-2024-operational-update\">reported<\/a> a month-end operating hash rate of 8.6 EH\/S, up from 8.0 EH\/s in May and 6.0 EH\/s the previous year. The company mined 176 BTC in June, up from 166 BTC in May.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/bitdeer\/\">Bitdeer<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.bitdeer.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/bitdeer-announces-june-2024-production-and-operations-update\">reported<\/a> 22.3 EH\/s hash rate under management in June, down from 22.4 E\/H in May but up from 18.8 the previous year.
