{"id":423737,"date":"2024-06-04T17:50:21","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T16:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=423737"},"modified":"2024-06-04T17:30:55","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T16:30:55","slug":"avail-secures-43-million-to-enhance-web3-with-modular-unification-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/avail-secures-43-million-to-enhance-web3-with-modular-unification-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Avail secures $43 million to enhance Web3 with modular unification technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Avail, a company spun out of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> layer-2 solution <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/polygon\/\">Polygon<\/a>, secured $43 million in a Series A funding round to develop a unified layer that addresses the scalability challenges and fragmentation issues within the Web3 ecosystem, according to a June 4 statement shared with <em>CryptoSlate.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This round takes Avail's total funding to $75 million, including a previous $32 million raised during its pre-seed.<\/p>\n<p>The Series A funding attracted prominent venture capital firms such as Founders Fund, Dragonfly Capital, and Cyber Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Anurag Arjun, Co-founder of Avail, said the funding would allow the firm to &#8220;continue to address the most critical challenges facing Web3 today, such as blockchain fragmentation, insufficient data availability, and limited scaling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the funding arrives before the firm's Avail DA mainnet launch, expected in a few weeks. It <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.availproject.org\/avail-raises-a-total-of-75m-to-build-unification-layer-for-web3\/\">said<\/a> Avail DA showcased impressive performance during its incentivized testnet phase, processing over 118 million transactions and facilitating more than 140GB of data submissions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 22px; font-weight: bold;\">Unification layer<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Avail plans to resolve the highlighted through its <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/top-ethereum-layer-2-networks-adopt-avail-da-to-boost-rollup-efficiency-and-security\/\">Unification Layer<\/a>. This modular technology stack combines data availability and shared security mechanisms to facilitate seamless interoperability among modular blockchains.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, this initiative is expected to pave the way for developing a secure, cost-effective, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/polygon-spin-off-avail-partners-with-dwallet-to-bring-programmable-bitcoin-to-web3-rollups\/\">user-friendly blockchain ecosystem<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the funding will support the development of Fusion Security\u2014a mechanism designed to ensure shared security across the Avail ecosystem by leveraging the native assets of established ecosystems like <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> and Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>Following this, Avail plans to launch Avail Nexus, a zero-knowledge rollup built on Avail DA, to address cross-rollup interoperability challenges. This layer will serve as a verification hub, unifying multiple rollups to mitigate issues such as siloed liquidity arising from blockchain fragmentation.<\/p>\n<p>Joey Krug, Partner at Founders Fund, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Avail makes data availability \u2014 a historically costly problem for blockchains \u2014 much cheaper and more efficient with their innovative, custom-built approach.
