During the reporting period, ETH's value increased by approximately 27%, while <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> saw a modest gain of 2%.<\/p>\n<h2>New ATH?<\/h2>\n<p>Several stakeholders highlighting how the spot Bitcoin ETFs catalyzed a 70% <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/btc-surges-6-to-touch-70k-as-ethereum-etf-rumors-cause-market-frenzy\/\">surge in BTC prices<\/a> believe that ETH's price could follow a similar trajectory toward a new all-time high.<\/p>\n<p>The experts noted that the ETF approval showed that crypto had gained more recognition as a viable financial asset class and would witness more <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ethereum-etf-approval-will-set-stage-for-solana-etf-commodity-classification\/\">institutional adoption<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>MicroStrategy executive chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/michael-saylor\/\">Michael Saylor<\/a> corroborated this view during a recent podcast appearance. According to him, the approval of an ETH ETF has further legitimized the emerging industry, thereby encouraging institutions to allocate more capital to various digital assets. This comes after Saylor had recently stated Ethereum ETFs would never be approved and Ethereum labeled a security.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/arthur-cheong\/\">Arthur Cheong<\/a>, founder of DeFiance Capital, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Arthur_0x\/status\/1794746610175615428\">said\u00a0<\/a>ETH's price could hit $4,500 before the ETFs begin trading because the asset is currently underrepresented within crypto portfolios.<\/p>\n<p>Banking giant JPMorgan has <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/jpmorgan-sees-spot-ethereum-etfs-trading-before-2024-elections-amid-political-gains\/\">predicted<\/a> that the ETF will launch before the US presidential elections.<\/p>\n<h2>Pectra upgrade<\/h2>\n<p>Another major catalyst that would fuel ETH's upward momentum is its upcoming Pectra upgrade, which core developers plan to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/gakonst\/status\/1793691798021488935?s=46&t=aw6ZR-6aD050XLPVXY8AQA\">launch<\/a> during the first quarter of next year.<\/p>\n<p>Pectra is Ethereum's next major upgrade following the successful implementation of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/blobs-successfully-slash-layer-2-fees-as-ethereum-dencun-upgrade-aims-to-increase-adoption\/\">Dencun<\/a> in March. The update aims to enhance the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) with the Ethereum Virtual Machine Object Format (EOF) and includes 11 improvement proposals.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the developers said they would replace the account abstraction <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ethereum-pectra-upgrade-promises-major-wallet-improvements-with-eip-3074-integration\/\">EIP-3074<\/a> with the more advanced EIP-7702, introduced by Ethereum co-founder <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/vitalik-buterin\/\">Vitalik Buterin<\/a>.
