Aquino, the SEC chair, emphasized that removing Binance apps from the marketplaces would help thwart the further spread of its illicit activities in the country.<\/p>\n<p>According to the regulatory chief, Binance's &#8220;sale or offer of unregistered securities to Filipinos and operating as an unregistered broker constitutes a violation of Republic Act no. 8799, or The Securities Regulation Code.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As of press time, Binance has yet to respond to <em>CryptoSlate's<\/em> request for comment.<\/p>\n<h2>Recurrent warnings<\/h2>\n<p>Since November 2023, the SEC has <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/philippines-sec-says-binance-operates-without-the-necessary-license-in-its-jurisdiction\/\">persistently cautioned<\/a> the public against utilizing Binance for investment, citing its lack of a license to solicit investments or operate a securities exchange.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the SEC and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) jointly <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-ends-tron-usdc-support-as-it-faces-blockade-in-the-philippines\/\">blocked<\/a> access to Binance websites, highlighting the need to &#8220;safeguard the public from unregistered investment products.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, the regulator urged Google and Meta to cease Binance-related advertisements targeting Filipino users.<\/p>\n<h2>Regulatory issues<\/h2>\n<p>Binance is under intense <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binances-uk-subsidiary-withdraws-fca-registration-as-european-exodus-continues\/\">scrutiny<\/a> across multiple jurisdictions, including the United States, the UK, Nigeria, and various European nations.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, a culmination of investigations by federal agencies in the United States, such as the Department of Justice and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), resulted in a substantial $4 billion settlement with Binance. This settlement also prompted the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binances-changpeng-zhao-pleads-guilty-to-money-laundering-comments-on-resignation\/\">resignation<\/a> of its co-founder, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/changpeng-zhao\/\">Changpeng Zhao<\/a>, from the position of CEO.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, Binance has been <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/kenya-to-extradite-binance-executive-involved-in-tax-evasion-and-escape-drama-to-nigeria\/\">entangled in a legal dispu<\/a>te with Nigerian authorities regarding its failure to register and accusations of tax evasion.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these hurdles, Binance has notched <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-enhances-safu-fund-stability-through-usdc-amid-regulatory-progress-in-dubai-and-india\/\">notable victories<\/a> in navigating regulatory landscapes.
