Or perhaps a token gesture, promising that they will give you a shout out at their next press release. What you don't expect is for them to do is pledge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/education\/article\/Bonanza-for-schools-as-SF-crypto-king-Ripple-12786257.php\">$29 million<\/a>\u00a0to your platform.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25692\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25692\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-25692\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/chris-larsen-ripple-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/chris-larsen-ripple-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/chris-larsen-ripple.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25692\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chris Larsen is the CEO of Ripple.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, this is precisely the situation that Charles Best, the founder of the nonprofit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donorschoose.org\/\">DonorsChoose.org<\/a> found himself.<\/p>\n<p>So when Best emailed Larsen asking for a big favor, he was worried that he might cause some offense or be ignored but thought that it was at least worth a try.<\/p>\n<p>The platform that connects banks, payment providers, digital asset exchanges and corporates via the RippleNet to provide a smooth experience to send money globally. Ripple had been strong support for the non-profit years earlier, so he thought he would take a gamble. After Best sent off the big pitch, he told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/education\/article\/Bonanza-for-schools-as-SF-crypto-king-Ripple-12786257.php\">The San Francisco Chronicle<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I kind of dared myself to send an email pitching an idea 10 times bigger than I've ever pitched before.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Ripple did not Disappoint<\/h2>\n<p>So how exactly did Larsen and Ripple react to the pitch? They responded with a $29 million donation to the organization, enough money to fully fund over 35,000 classroom requests.<\/p>\n<p>According to the San Francisco Chronicle<span style=\"font-family: 'Roboto Slab', serif; font-size: 18px;\">, this would be the single most significant cryptocurrency donation in history.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>The XRP that has been donated was converted into fiat dollars, where the nonprofit will fulfill the requests, buying books, funding field trips and helping to complete the projects.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We can\u2019t believe that just happened. It was founded in 2000, and it all was teachers to post classroom project requests, and then donors can select the projects that they want to support.<\/p>\n<h3>Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can donate any amount to the project that inspires you.<\/h3>\n<p>With the funds that Ripple is donating, they are now able to complete every project that was pledged on their platform.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The teachers behind these projects work with more than a million students who are now going to get materials and experiences that they need to learn.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>#bestschoolday<\/h2>\n<p>After the announcement, social media started filling up with mentions by the teachers and students who were previously not able to fund their projects.<\/p>\n<p>The hashtag <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%23bestschoolday&src=typd\">#bestschoolday<\/a> started trending, with many teachers moved to tears because their projects could now be fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p>Public schools who are often at a distinct disadvantage due to a lack of funding are now able to afford iPads, laptop bars, and school field trips, to name just a few.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BestSchoolDay?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BestSchoolDay<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ripple?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Ripple<\/a> just funded every project on DonorsChoose ( OVER 29 Million $) including my $11,000.00 big dream project for a brand spanking  new Google Expedition set for 30 students!
