{"id":389588,"date":"2024-01-17T01:30:43","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T01:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=389588"},"modified":"2024-01-16T23:29:25","modified_gmt":"2024-01-16T23:29:25","slug":"core-scientific-wins-court-approval-to-enact-reorganization-plan-exit-bankruptcy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/core-scientific-wins-court-approval-to-enact-reorganization-plan-exit-bankruptcy\/","title":{"rendered":"Core Scientific wins court approval to enact reorganization plan, exit bankruptcy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Bitcoin mining firm <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/core-scientific\/\">Core Scientific<\/a> announced on <a href=\"https:\/\/investors.corescientific.com\/investors\/news\/news-details\/2024\/Core-Scientific-Inc.-Plan-of-Reorganization-Confirmed-by-Bankruptcy-Court\/default.aspx?utm_source=social&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=TWITTER&utm_id=Example\">Jan. 16<\/a> that it has obtained court approval to proceed with its reorganization plan.<\/p>\n<p>Core Scientific noted that this reorganization plan will allow it to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Sullivan, Core Scientific's CEO, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Today\u2019s plan confirmation is a defining moment in our reorganization; we\u2019re poised to emerge by the end of this month as an even stronger company, with a highly motivated team that is aligned for success.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sullivan noted that demand for Bitcoin and &#8220;high-value compute&#8221; is rising and said that the company aims to create value for shareholders amidst that demand.<\/p>\n<p>The press release added that the plan will see shareholders receive shares of Core Scientific's new common stock and warrants, which constitute about 60% of the company's new equity. The release also stated that Core Scientific's existing debt is expected to be paid in full with the execution of the plan, marking a reduction of $1 billion from its debt balance before the reorganization plan.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnnbloomberg.ca\/crypto-miner-core-scientific-to-exit-bankruptcy-1.2022669\">Bloomberg<\/a> suggested in a separate report that the plan will eliminate $400 million in debt from Core Scientific's balance sheet. Bloomberg also indicated that the firm's precise re-listing date on Nasdaq is Jan. 24, 2024.<\/p>\n<h2>Core Scientific was in bankruptcy for one year<\/h2>\n<p>Core Scientific <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitcoin-miner-core-scientific-files-for-bankruptcy-has-over-1b-in-liabilities\/\">filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy<\/a> in December 2022 but continued to operate throughout the bankruptcy process.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the company secured a multi-million dollar loan from <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/blackrock\/\">BlackRock<\/a> and other creditors shortly after its bankruptcy filing in order to continue its activities.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, Core Scientific reached an expansion deal with <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/bitmain\/\">Bitmain<\/a> in September 2023. That agreement that saw Bitmain invest $54 million in Core Scientific and provide the company with 27,000 Bitcoin mining devices.<\/p>\n<p>Core Scientific stock (CORZQ) is currently worth $1.18, down 14.49% today.
