{"id":381554,"date":"2023-12-13T14:50:36","date_gmt":"2023-12-13T14:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=381554"},"modified":"2023-12-13T14:43:10","modified_gmt":"2023-12-13T14:43:10","slug":"three-arrows-capitals-su-zhu-reportedly-near-release-following-good-behavior-in-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/three-arrows-capitals-su-zhu-reportedly-near-release-following-good-behavior-in-custody\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Arrows Capital&#8217;s Su Zhu reportedly near release following good behavior in custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Su Zhu, co-founder of the now-defunct crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/three-arrows-capital\/\">3AC<\/a>), is slated for release later this month after spending several months in custody, Bloomberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-12-13\/liquidators-question-three-arrows-su-zhu-in-singapore-court-to-find-assets?leadSource=uverify%20wall\">reported<\/a> on Dec. 13.<\/p>\n<p>In September, Zhu <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/su-zhu-reportedly-arrested-in-singapore\/\">got<\/a> a four-month jail sentence due to non-cooperation in the liquidation process of the collapsed firm. As per the Bloomberg report, Zhu's release is attributed to demonstrating good behavior during the period of custody.<\/p>\n<h2>3AC liquidators question Zhu<\/h2>\n<p>This development coincides with Zhu's recent appearance in a Singaporean court, where lawyers from Teneo, the appointed liquidator for 3AC, questioned him on the reasons behind the firm's failure and the whereabouts of its assets.<\/p>\n<p>Teneo wants to reclaim $1.3 billion from Zhu and his partner, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/kyle-davies\/\">Kyle\u00a0Davies<\/a>, who is also wanted by the Singaporean authorities. Notably, the court-appointed liquidators have previously <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/3ac-co-founder-fears-jail-term-over-liquidators-misrepresentation\/\">accused<\/a> the co-founders of the bankrupt firm of being uncooperative and providing &#8220;selective and piecemeal disclosures&#8221; about the bankrupt hedge fund assets.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, 3AC was one of the several crypto firms, including FTX and Celsius, that collapsed following a significant market downturn.<\/p>\n<p>The hedge fund had held a prominent position in the industry and had substantial investment stakes in projects such as LUNA, Aave, Avalanche, BlockFi, Deribit, and Solana. The firm managed around $18 billion of digital assets at its peak.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/the-downfall-of-three-arrows-capital-3ac-what-went-wrong\/\">company's downfa<\/a>ll resulted from inadequate risk management protocols and imprudent transactions driven by excessive greed.<\/p>\n<p>Following the collapse, Singaporean authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/zhu-su-and-kyle-davies-banned-by-singapore-regulator-for-9-yrs-over-securities-breaches\/\">banned<\/a> Zhu and Davies for nine years because they violated the country's Securities and Futures Act 2001 (SFA) and Securities and Futures (Licensing and Conduct of Business) Regulations (SFR).
