The firm is also restricted from crypto stakings, DeFi activities, and initial coin offerings (ICO), amongst others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">Also, PayPal is restricted from expanding its current offering in crypto assets or operating &#8220;a machine which utilized the automated process to exchange crypto assets for money or money for crypto assets&#8221; without the FCA's <a href=\"https:\/\/register.fca.org.uk\/s\/firm?id=0014G00003By3NiQAJ\">approval<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">However, PayPal registration contrasts with the exit of numerous crypto firms from the country. Since the FCA's crypto promotion regime became effective, several firms, including Binance, have <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-stops-accepting-uk-customers-effective-today\/\">exited<\/a> the country due to compliance-related issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">Notably, PayPal previously <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/paypal-to-pause-uk-crypto-purchases-starting-in-october\/\">paused<\/a> its services in Aug. as part of the compliance process.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s2\">U.K.'s crypto regulatory drive <\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"s3\">On Oct. 31, the U.K. Treasury published a <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/uk-finalizes-regulatory-approach-to-crypto-stablecoins\/\"><span class=\"s4\">proposal<\/span><\/a> on crypto regulation following its consultation process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">According to the proposal, the authorities intend to integrate crypto activities into the financial services regulation, meaning that all crypto-related firms will require authorization from the Financial Conduct Authority to operate in the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">The document also noted that crypto firms must give the FCA full disclosure about specific activities.<\/p>\n<p>Besides that, the U.K. parliament recently <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/new-uk-law-grants-authorities-power-to-seize-crypto-without-arrest\/\">passed<\/a> a bill that allows law enforcement agencies to confiscate cryptocurrency assets linked to criminal activities, including money laundering, fraud, and ransomware attacks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Payment giant PayPal has successfully registered with the United Kingdom&#8217;s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to offer crypto services in the country, according to the regulator&#8217;s website.
