At the time, a representative from the exchange told <em>CryptoSlate<\/em> that it was in contact with regulators from the country.<\/p>\n<p>Less than a month later, the exchange withdrew its license application because &#8220;the situation, both in the global market and regulation, has changed significantly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The exchange's spokesperson told <em>CryptoSlate<\/em> that the firm intends to reapply for the appropriate licensing, adding that the new application would adequately reflect the changes in the market.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Binance still intends to apply for appropriate licensing in Germany, but it is essential that our submission accurately reflects these changes.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Binance did not provide further information about when it plans to reapply for the licensing.<\/p>\n<h2>Binance EU regulatory woes<\/h2>\n<p>The withdrawal from Germany marks another setback for the exchange's effort to gain a foothold in Europe, where it has withdrawn from the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-withdraws-from-netherlands-following-vasp-license-snub\/\">Netherlands<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-reportedly-pulls-out-of-austria-shifts-focus-to-mica-compliance-in-europe\/\">Austria<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-exits-cyprus-to-focus-on-larger-eu-markets-amid-regulatory-hurdles\/\">Cyprus<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binances-uk-subsidiary-withdraws-fca-registration-as-european-exodus-continues\/\">U.K.<\/a> in the past month over its failure to get regulatory approval.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the firm previously told <em>CryptoSlate<\/em> that the exchange is focused on complying with the forthcoming Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulations to offer its services in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Ilir Laro, the sub-regional manager for growth in the U.K. and Europe, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ilir_laro\/status\/1670330407508647936?s=20\">said<\/a> the firm has five regulated entities within the region, including France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that the firm is currently being <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/french-authorities-have-been-investigating-binance-since-february-2022\/\">investigated<\/a> in France for &#8220;aggravated money laundering&#8221; and illegally providing services to French users between 2020 and 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Binance is also facing regulatory struggles in the U.S. Two leading financial watchdogs, the CFTC and SEC, are suing Binance, its principal subsidiaries, and its CEO, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/changpeng-zhao\/\">Changpeng Zhao<\/a>.
