{"id":337146,"date":"2023-06-23T23:27:46","date_gmt":"2023-06-23T22:27:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=337146"},"modified":"2026-04-10T12:03:40","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T11:03:40","slug":"coinbase-adds-support-for-usdc-on-stellar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coinbase-adds-support-for-usdc-on-stellar\/","title":{"rendered":"Coinbase adds support for USDC on Stellar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/coinbase\/\">Coinbase<\/a> has added support for <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/usd-coin\/\">USDC<\/a>\u00a0on Stellar, the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/stellar-development-foundation\/\">Stellar Development Foundation<\/a> (SDF) said on <a href=\"https:\/\/stellar.org\/blog\/coinbase-integrates-with-usdc-on-stellar\">June 23<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That announcement indicates that Coinbase will allow both withdrawals and deposits of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/circle\/\">Circle's<\/a> stablecoin via the Stellar network.<\/p>\n<p>SDF said that Coinbase's support for USDC on Stellar will allow for faster and less expensive transactions. Specifically, it said that USDC on Stellar can provide &#8220;near-zero&#8221; transaction costs and can finalize transactions within as little as five seconds.<\/p>\n<p>SDF further said that the addition will introduce a &#8220;significant [on\/off] ramp&#8221; for USDC alongside Stellar's existing wallets, exchanges, and fintech businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Coinbase Assets acknowledged the feature <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CoinbaseAssets\/status\/1672289758020550660\">in its own tweet<\/a>. There, the company wrote that USDC on Stellar will make it &#8220;easier than ever to store and move money.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>USDC exists on several blockchains<\/h2>\n<p>Circle originally launched USDC on Stellar in February 2021. The USDC stablecoin also exists as a native asset on Ethereum, Solana, TRON, Avalanche, Hedera, Algorand, and Flow, and as a bridged asset on other chains.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Circle announced it would create a native version of USDC for the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/circle-to-launch-usdc-natively-on-arbitrum\/\">Arbitrum blockchain<\/a>, where it already exists as a bridged asset.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike some of those earlier USDC launches, today's news does not mean that USDC will exist on a new chain.
