{"id":335573,"date":"2023-06-20T10:45:43","date_gmt":"2023-06-20T09:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=335573"},"modified":"2023-06-20T10:14:55","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T09:14:55","slug":"binance-confirms-bitcoin-lightning-network-integration-in-the-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-confirms-bitcoin-lightning-network-integration-in-the-works\/","title":{"rendered":"Binance confirms Bitcoin Lightning Network integration in the works"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cryptocurrency exchange Binance confirmed it <span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">was working to integrate the <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">BTC<\/a>)<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> Lightning Network (LN) for deposits and withdrawals activities on its platform, according to a June 20 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/binance\/status\/1671042638592589826?s=20\">tweet<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Binance will join Bitfinex, Kraken, and OKX as one of the largest trading exchanges to integrate Lightning, according to a GitHub <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/theDavidCoen\/LightningExchanges#readme\">repository<\/a> by LN advocate David Coen.<\/p>\n<h2>Crypto community spot Binance lightning nodes<\/h2>\n<p>During the past week, several crypto community members <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/softsimon_\/status\/1669713810955878401?s=20\">highlighted<\/a> Binance's LN nodes on the network. Amboss, a data analytics for the LN, corroborated these claims, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ambosstech\/status\/1669704366021033985?s=20\">tweeting<\/a> that Kraken's largest channel was connected to a Binance node.<\/p>\n<p>On June 16, Bitcoin Magazine <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BitcoinMagazine\/status\/1669704224920289285?s=20\">reported<\/a> that Kraken and OKX had opened channels with a Binance-related node.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Amboss <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ambosstech\/status\/1670679544737439744?s=20\">said<\/a> the Binance node was not publishing its connection information, preventing other nodes from connecting freely.<\/p>\n<p>Binance's tweet confirmed that it was operating the &#8220;new Lightning nodes,&#8221; adding that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;There's still more tech work to be done. We'll update once Lightning is fully integrated.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>CryptoSlate<\/em> contacted Binance for additional commentary but did not receive a response as of press time.<\/p>\n<p>In May, the exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-working-to-enable-bitcoin-lightning-network\/\">hinted<\/a> that it would integrate LN withdrawals after it experienced issues with the volume of pending transactions on its platform.
