The anonymous hacker responsible for stealing more than $7 million worth of Ethereum from Israel-based ICO <a href=\"http:\/\/coindash.io\/\">CoinDash<\/a> has done just that, however, inexplicably returning another 20,000 ETH (currently worth $17.3 million USD) to the platform and adding to the 10,000 ETH that was returned in September 2017.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/coindash\/\">CoinDash<\/a> has announced the return of the funds earlier today via both <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.coindash.io\/20-000-eth-were-sent-from-the-hacker-address-back-to-coindash-product-launch-stay-on-schedule-12d2c75c42d5\">Medium<\/a> and an email update, stating that the return of the lost capital will not affect the CoinDash launch, which is scheduled for February 27th.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">20,000 ETH were sent from the Hacker address back to CoinDash, product launch stay on schedule. Our official statement can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/s9dWmWjt0G\">https:\/\/t.co\/s9dWmWjt0G<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Blox.io (@Blox_Official) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Blox_Official\/status\/966970163114455040?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 23, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Alon Muroch, the CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/coindash\/\">CoinDash<\/a>, released a public statement on the return of the lost ETH:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>\u201cSimilar to the hack itself, the hacker\u2019s actions will not prevent us from the realizing our vision, CoinDash product launch will take place next week as originally intended.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33441\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33441\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-33441\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/muroch-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/muroch-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/muroch-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/muroch-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/muroch.jpg 1040w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33441\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CoinDash CEO Alon Muroch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This is not the first time the magnanimous hacker behind the Coinbase hack has returned stolen ETH\u2014 10,000 ETH was mysteriously returned on <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.coindash.io\/hack-update-10-000-eth-were-sent-from-the-hacker-address-back-to-coindash-a18970654037\">September 19th<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n<p>The original <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/coindash\/\">CoinDash<\/a> ICO was compromised in July 2017, when the hacker was able to alter the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> address used to solicit funds during the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/coindash\/\">CoinDash<\/a> crowdsale.<\/p>\n<p>The return of the lost Etherum was met with incredulity by Muroch, who stated in an <a href=\"https:\/\/motherboard.vice.com\/en_us\/article\/3kak4w\/an-alleged-ethereum-hacker-gave-back-dollar3-million-and-nobody-knows-why\">interview<\/a>\u00a0last year that he had not expected the hacker to give back any of the stolen ETH:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i> &#8220;We have not been contacted by the hacker, or anyone related to the hacker\u2026 A hacker steals a lot of money and out of the blue returns some of it. It's truly incredible, this industry.&#8221;<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Ethereum address used to divert the funds away from the CoinDash ICO can be viewed <a href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/address\/0x6a164122d5cf7c840d26e829b46dcc4ed6c0ae48\">here<\/a> \u2014 the original 488 ETH captured in the hack was siphoned away to <a href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/address\/0x2de74edcce90220e99e8ceb2df79baf9961bf8e2\">another address<\/a>, from which it was subsequently distributed amongst a range of other wallets over 15 different transactions. The last transaction out of the hacker\u2019s wallet was the unexplainable return of CoinDash\u2019s capital, leaving just 13,000 ETH remaining.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/coindash\/\">CoinDash<\/a> has stated that the Israeli Counter Cyber Terrorist Unit has been notified of the return, with the hacker\u2019s Ethereum addresses continuing to be tracked and monitored for any suspicious activity.
