{"id":332210,"date":"2023-06-07T22:11:47","date_gmt":"2023-06-07T21:11:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=332210"},"modified":"2023-06-07T22:11:47","modified_gmt":"2023-06-07T21:11:47","slug":"cardano-company-input-output-says-ada-is-not-a-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cardano-company-input-output-says-ada-is-not-a-security\/","title":{"rendered":"Cardano company Input Output says ADA is not a security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Input Output Global (IOG), the company behind Cardano, responded to recent regulatory action concerning the legal status of its ADA token on <a href=\"https:\/\/iohk.io\/en\/blog\/posts\/2023\/06\/07\/iog-response-to-the-recent-sec-filings\/\">June 6<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Input Output responds to SEC cases<\/h2>\n<p>IOG's statement pertains to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)'s recent actions against <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/seven-key-points-from-the-secs-charges-against-binance-and-binance-us\/\">Binance<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/seven-bombshells-from-the-secs-coinbase-suit\/\">Coinbase<\/a>. The SEC alleged that ADA and other cryptocurrencies traded on those exchanges are investment contracts and securities.<\/p>\n<p>In response, IOG asserted that the filings contain &#8220;numerous factual inaccuracies.&#8221; It said that ADA is not, and has never been, a security under U.S. law.<\/p>\n<p>IOG also criticized the SEC's tendency to regulate by enforcement and its lack of clarity. The company said it is open to working with regulators to create pro-innovation frameworks, adding that it advocates for sensible regulation that &#8220;honors&#8230;the nature of blockchain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Input Output Global additionally stated that the ongoing cases against Coinbase and Binance will not affect its operations at all.<\/p>\n<h2>Hoskinson commented earlier<\/h2>\n<p>Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/trons-justin-sun-cardanos-charles-hoskinson-side-with-binance-in-sec-case\/\">previously commented<\/a> on developments. On June 5, he called the Binance case &#8220;the next in a series of steps to implement chokepoint 2.0.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The ADA token has lost significant value following the news.
