{"id":324805,"date":"2023-05-12T14:15:10","date_gmt":"2023-05-12T13:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=324805"},"modified":"2023-07-12T15:04:43","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T14:04:43","slug":"do-kwon-granted-bail-at-e400000-against-prosecutors-wishes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/do-kwon-granted-bail-at-e400000-against-prosecutors-wishes\/","title":{"rendered":"Do Kwon granted bail at \u20ac400,000 \u2013 against prosecutors wishes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon will be released on bail alongside company CFO Han Chong-Joon \u2014 against the wishes of prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>The Montenegro court has set a fee of \u20ac400,000 ($436,000) per person, according to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-05-12\/montenegro-court-agrees-to-release-do-kwon-on-bail\"> Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Upon release, both men will be under house arrest with police supervision in the country's capital, Podgorica.<\/p>\n<p>In winning the bail, defense lawyer Branko Andjelic told the court neither man is a flight risk \u2014 offering his girlfriend's apartment as the place of house arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors argued that the bail amount is inconsequential when considering Do Kwon's wealth.<\/p>\n<h2>Do Kwon captured<\/h2>\n<p>On <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/montenegro-vice-president-announces-arrest-of-individual-suspected-to-be-do-kwon\/\">March 23<\/a>, the pair were arrested at Montenegro Podgorica Airport after suspicious travel documents were noted.<\/p>\n<p>The capture provided a dramatic twist to the ongoing multi-billion dollar fraud that unraveled as Terra LUNA collapsed under the weight of the TerraUST de-peg on May 10, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Since being incarcerated, several incidents have come to light, including forming a new <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/serbian-lawyers-exposed-for-helping-do-kwon-set-up-company-post-red-notice\/\">shell company<\/a> with help from Serbian lawyers and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/paradigm-files-amicus-brief-in-secs-lawsuit-against-terra-do-kwon\/\">filing charges<\/a> against Do Kwon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon will be released on bail alongside company CFO Han Chong-Joon \u2014 against the wishes of prosecutors.
