The team added that it was analyzing the exploit and urged everyone to follow its issued instruction.<\/p>\n<p>Merlin was yet to respond to <em>CryptoSlate's <\/em>request for comment as of press time.<\/p>\n<h2>CertiK says the hack is a potential private key management issue<\/h2>\n<p>CertiK <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CertiK\/status\/1651088669187473408?s=20\">said<\/a> its initial investigations into the hack showed that it was a potential private key management issue rather than an exploit as the root cause.<\/p>\n<p>The blockchain security firm noted that it highlighted the &#8220;centralization risk&#8221; under \u201cDecentralization Efforts&#8221; in its audit of the firm. CertiK added that &#8220;audits cannot prevent private key issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, CertiK assured that it would share relevant information with the authorities if it suspects foul play.<\/p>\n<p>Despite CertiK's explanations, some crypto community members have questioned the validity of the audits performed by the firm. CertiK is one of the biggest names in the blockchain security business.<\/p>\n<h2>MerlinDEX exploiter moving funds to exchanges<\/h2>\n<p>Blockchain security firm Peckshield <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PeckShieldAlert\/status\/1651076481240690689?s=20\">reported<\/a> that the Merlin DEX exploiter is already sending some of the stolen funds to exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>According to the firm, the exploiter sent $133,800 <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/usd-coin\/\">USDC<\/a> to MEXC Global and $31,000 USDC to Binance.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, available <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wasgiventhatday\/status\/1651039576860000257?s=20\">information<\/a> shows that two addresses were responsible for the exploit.
