The electronic securities can be registered in the central register or on the blockchain \u2014 hence the term &#8220;crypto shares.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This means the law tokenizes stock shares. However, it is unclear whether crypto exchanges will be allowed to trade such shares.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the law, the Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner <a href=\"https:\/\/bundesfinanzministerium.de\/Content\/DE\/Standardartikel\/Themen\/Schlaglichter\/Start-ups\/zukunftsfinanzierungsgesetz.html\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We want to make Germany the leading location for startups and growth companies. Therefore, we are improving access to the capital market and facilitating the absorption of equity.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notably, the website mentioned that one of the critical improvements in the Act is the &#8220;testing of improved transferability of crypto assets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Circle's director of EU strategy and policy, Patrick Hansen, pointed out that German law already allows the issuance of tokenized bonds and funds. He <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/paddi_hansen\/status\/1643621737144131584?s=20\">added<\/a> that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Shares are the next big step forward.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Germany's pro-crypto stance<\/h2>\n<p>This law continues the country's trend of creating an enabling regulatory environment for cryptocurrency. Last year, Germany was ranked as the most crypto-friendly country in the world by CoinCub. The ranking <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/german-crypto-tax-policy-one-of-the-best-in-the-world-coincub-report\/\">factored<\/a> the country's regulatory clarity and strong legal frameworks into its decision.<\/p>\n<p>Boerse Stuttgart Digital, the second-largest stock exchange in the country, was recently <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/business\/boerse-stuttgart-digital-to-enable-institutional-bitcoin-trading\">licensed<\/a> by Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) to offer crypto custodial services.<\/p>\n<p>In February, the third-largest publicly traded company in Germany, Siemens, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/siemens-announces-issuance-of-1st-digital-bond-on-polygon\/\">issued<\/a> its first digital bond worth \u20ac60 million ($64 million) on the Polygon (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/polygon\/\">MATIC<\/a>) blockchain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Germany continues its crypto-friendly stance by introducing a new law allowing companies to issue crypto shares.
