{"id":314916,"date":"2023-04-04T14:25:50","date_gmt":"2023-04-04T13:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=314916"},"modified":"2023-04-04T15:47:49","modified_gmt":"2023-04-04T14:47:49","slug":"21shares-launches-etp-for-bitcoin-l2-network-stacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/21shares-launches-etp-for-bitcoin-l2-network-stacks\/","title":{"rendered":"21Shares launches ETP for Bitcoin L2 network Stacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leading crypto exchange-traded product (ETP) issuer\u00a021Shares has launched a product offering exposure to Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">BTC<\/a>) layer2 (L2) network Stacks (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/stacks\/\">STX<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>According to an April 4 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2023\/04\/04\/2640565\/0\/en\/21Shares-Launches-World-s-First-ETP-Offering-Exposure-to-Stacks.html\">statement<\/a>, the 21Shares Stacks Staking ETP\u00a0 is listed on the BX Swiss Exchange under the ticker ASTX.<\/p>\n<p>21Shares described the product as &#8220;the world's first ETP offering exposure to Stacks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Arthur Krause, director of ETP product at 21Shares, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;ASTX provides a unique opportunity for investors, as there are currently no other investment products providing exposure to Stacks on the market.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Stacks is a Bitcoin L2 network with a separate ledger to store data outside Bitcoin L1. The protocol allows developers to build decentralized applications (dApps) similar to those on other smart contract-enabled blockchains like Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>The protocol is one of the best-performing digital assets, rallying by more than 330% in 2023, according to <em>CryptoSlate's<\/em> data.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the year, crypto investment fund North Rock Digital's founder Hal Press <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/stacks-near-1-after-24-rise-as-crypto-investment-fund-apes-in\/\">said<\/a> his fund had taken a long-term position in STX.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, this is not the first altcoin ETP 21Shares would be launching. Due to low investor demand in March, the ETP issuer delisted six crypto ETPs, including its Terra ETP.<\/p>\n<p>The news did not impact STX's price performance \u2014 it is down 2.3% to trade at $0.87 as of press time, according to <em>CryptoSlate's<\/em> data.<\/p>\n<h2>Crypto<span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> ETPs are performing strongly in 2023<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trackinsight.com\/en\/etf-screener?t=11\"><span class=\"s4\">Data<\/span><\/a> from trackinsight showed that most crypto-related ETPs have soared by more than 60% in 2023. This is primarily due to the industry's improved performance which has seen Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies recover from their previous lows.<\/p>\n<p>Several investment firms have issued crypto ETPs for investors looking to invest in crypto. Investors usually invest in ETPs to indirectly gain exposure to a digital asset without holding it directly.<\/p>\n<p>For context, WisdomTree <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2022\/03\/31\/2413770\/0\/en\/WisdomTree-launches-Solana-Cardano-and-Polkadot-ETPs-in-Europe.html\"><span class=\"s4\">launched<\/span><\/a> ETPs for Cardano, Solana, and Polkadot last year in Europe despite the bear market condition.
