{"id":311111,"date":"2023-03-21T16:00:48","date_gmt":"2023-03-21T16:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=311111"},"modified":"2023-03-21T16:00:48","modified_gmt":"2023-03-21T16:00:48","slug":"arbitrum-to-airdrop-112-8m-arb-tokens-to-daos-on-its-ecosystem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/arbitrum-to-airdrop-112-8m-arb-tokens-to-daos-on-its-ecosystem\/","title":{"rendered":"Arbitrum to airdrop 112.8M ARB tokens to DAOs on its ecosystem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ethereum layer2 solution Arbitrum would <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/arbitrum-to-airdrop-arb-tokens-to-users-on-march-23\/\">airdrop<\/a> 112.8 million ARB tokens to 137 decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) on its ecosystem on March 23.<\/p>\n<h2>Arbitrum says airdrop is not a retroactive grant<\/h2>\n<p>In a March 21 Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/arbitrum\/status\/1638163833624600584\">thread<\/a>,\u00a0 Arbitrum said the airdrop was not a retroactive grant. Instead, it was a way of empowering the sub-communities on the layer2 network to localize governance decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Arbitrum added that the airdrops would be distributed only to projects with a DAO and a community treasury. However, it made an exception for The Protocol Guild, a collective of Ethereum core developers and contributors.<\/p>\n<p>Arbitrum said it considered factors like the project's deployment date alongside whether it was multi-chain or native to its ecosystem. Other factors considered include the transaction volume, the total value of assets locked on the project, and native liquidity moved to the ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>It added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The hope and intention is that by distributing to Arbitrum DAOs, we\u2019re able to spread governance power more widely amongst users than solely allocating to those who were eligible for the airdrop.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>GMX to get 8 million tokens<\/h2>\n<p>A breakdown of the airdrop distribution by Nansen <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1v7yM7FnNZhsj3UctdvIVcD4F8Ygyu5l6R7Q-uiGkdSM\/htmlview#\">showed<\/a> that the decentralized exchange GMX and TREASURE would get the highest amount of tokens \u2014 8 million each.<\/p>\n<p>Other projects like Uniswap (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/uniswap\/\">UNI<\/a>) and SushiSwap (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/sushiswap\/\">SUSHI<\/a>) would get 4.3 million and 4.2 million ARB tokens, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/makerdao\/\">MakerDAO<\/a>, KyberSwap, DODO, Camelot, and 24 other projects would be over 1 million ARB tokens.
