He added that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;USDC is shrinking in market cap too due to bank closures.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>USDT supply nears 80 billion<\/h2>\n<p>Following the issues plaguing rival stablecoins, USDT's supply has grown by more than 10% in the last 30 days to $76.97 billion, according to <em>CryptoSlate<\/em>\u00a0data.<\/p>\n<p>For context, on-chain sleuth Lookonchain <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lookonchain\/status\/1638119803176222720?s=20\">said<\/a> Tether minted 5<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u00a0billion <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">USDT<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u00a0 tokens on <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Tron<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> and <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Ethereum blockchain networks<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> in the past seven days. This coincided with a <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/tethers-circulating-supply-reaches-10-month-high-of-74b\/\">period<\/a> when USDT's supply reached a ten-month high, and its market dominance rose to around 58%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Besides USDT, TrueUSD (TUSD) grew massively in the last 30 days. During the period, the little-known stablecoin enjoyed massive adoption \u2014 pushing its supply beyond 2 billion for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Binance also <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-ditches-busds-bitcoin-free-trading-for-tusd\/\">moved<\/a> it's zero-fee Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">BTC<\/a>) trading from <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/binance-usd\/\">BUSD<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/true-usd\/\">TUSD<\/a>\u00a0on March 22. The exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-removes-busd-from-safu-fund-adds-tusd-usdt\/\">added<\/a> that it was adding TUSD to its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU).<\/p>\n<h2>USDC and BUSD decline triggered by US-specific challenges<\/h2>\n<p>Meanwhile, USDC and BUSD's supply have declined by more than 15% and 38% in the last 30 days, respectively, according to <em>CryptoSlate<\/em>\u00a0data.<\/p>\n<p>Although the reasons for these decreases differ, challenges facing the stablecoins could be tied to issues emanating from the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>While regulatory actions triggered BUSD's decline, the collapse of crypto-friendly institutions negatively affected confidence in USDC \u2014 resulting in its earlier depeg.<\/p>\n<p>Since these events, crypto investors have shown an increased preference for USDT and other stablecoins.<\/p>\n<p>Lyn Alden investment firm founder, Lyn Alden, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LynAldenContact\/status\/1637910166136930310?s=20\">pointed out<\/a> that the U.S. authorities' reluctance to &#8220;<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">allow and formalize <\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-b88u0q r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">stablecoins<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> domestically has increased market share for offshore <\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-b88u0q r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">stablecoins<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Binance CEO Changpeng &#8220;CZ&#8221; Zhao highlighted how Tether&#8217;s USDT has grown amidst the issues plaguing its rivals.
