Nonetheless, USDC and the other stablecoins have since reattained parity with the dollar \u2014 with Circle's stablecoin trading at $1 on several centralized trading platforms since March 17.<\/p>\n<p>On March 6, roughly <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230306054104\/https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/usd-coin\">43.89 billion USDC<\/a> was in circulation. On March 17, 7.08 billion USDC was redeemed \u2014 falling by 10.2% over 30 days, according to on-chain <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230306054104\/https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/usd-coin\">data<\/a> by CoinGecko.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_310250\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-310250\" style=\"width: 995px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-310250 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-18-at-12.22.43-PM.png\" alt=\"Current USDC in circulation\" width=\"995\" height=\"408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-18-at-12.22.43-PM.png 995w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-18-at-12.22.43-PM-300x123.png 300w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-18-at-12.22.43-PM-768x315.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 995px) 100vw, 995px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-310250\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Source: Circle)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>BUSD also retreats<\/h2>\n<p>On March 17,\u00a0 BUSD's 24-hour global trade volume across different exchanges was $8.2 billion. Over the last 11 days, 439 million BUSD has been redeemed. During that time, the amount of BUSD in circulation decreased to 8.2 billion from 8.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Per Nansen's <a href=\"https:\/\/portfolio.nansen.ai\/dashboard\/binance\">proof-of-reserve<\/a> data, Binance currently holds 7.42 billion BUSD. According to Coin Gecko's stablecoin market data, the number of BUSD in circulation has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/pl\/waluty\/binance-usd\">decreased<\/a> by 46.3% over the past 30 days, which analysts attribute to the SEC's decision to serve Paxos&#8211;the US issuers of BUSD&#8211;a Wells Notice last month, prompting both Binance and Paxos to distance themselves from the stablecoin.<\/p>\n<h2>Tether picks up supply<\/h2>\n<p>Between both the USDC and BUSD liquidations over the last several weeks, the largest stablecoin by market capitalization, Tether (USDT), has experienced an 8.7% increase in the number of coins in circulation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/pl\/waluty\/tether\">Tether<\/a> currently holds an overall market valuation of approximately $75.29 billion, with 75.17 billion USDT in circulation. On March 17, Tether's global trade volume of $80.38 billion exceeded that of every other coin in the entire crypto-economy in terms of 24-hour settled trades.\u00a0 BUSD and USDC possess the second and third-largest stablecoin volumes, respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The stablecoin market has seen significant changes over the past few weeks \u2014 including the removal of over 7 billion USDC stablecoins from circulation following the depegging event on March 11.
