{"id":309685,"date":"2023-03-16T13:34:10","date_gmt":"2023-03-16T13:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=309685"},"modified":"2023-03-16T15:34:47","modified_gmt":"2023-03-16T15:34:47","slug":"arbitrum-to-airdrop-arb-tokens-to-users-on-march-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/arbitrum-to-airdrop-arb-tokens-to-users-on-march-23\/","title":{"rendered":"Arbitrum to airdrop ARB tokens to users on March 23"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ethereum (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">ETH<\/a>) layer2 (L2) solution Arbitrum is set to airdrop ARB tokens to its community members on March 23.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Arbitrum Foundation said in a March 16 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/the-arbitrum-foundation-announces-dao-governance-for-the-arbitrum-one-and-nova-networks-and-airdrop-of-arb-token-to-arbitrum-users-301774131.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>statement<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that the L2 solution would be pivoting into a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that the ARB token would govern.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This means that ARB holders would be allowed to make decisions that impact the operations and governance of the Arbitrum ecosystem.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The $ARB token will facilitate the decentralization of the Arbirum network, and the $ARB airdrop will place the governance token in the hands of the users who are actively participating in the Arbitrum ecosystem.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"s9\"><span class=\"s8\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">The ARB token<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The ARB token has a total circulating supply of 10 billion. The developers said the community owns 56% of this supply <span class=\"s10\">\u2014 of which 12.75% would be airdropped to individual wallets and DAOs operating within the ecosystem on March 23,\u00a0<\/span>according to a Medium <a href=\"https:\/\/arbitrumfoundation.medium.com\/arbitrum-the-next-phase-of-decentralization-e7f8b37b5226\"><span class=\"s5\">post<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s10\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s10\">The airdrop would be shared based on a February 26 snapshot taken by the developers.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"s10\">\u201cThe majority of the $ARB supply will be under the control of the Arbitrum community via The Arbitrum Foundation, accelerating growth of the ecosystem organically. $ARB token holders will govern The Arbitrum Foundation through the Arbitrum DAO.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"s10\">The developers wrote that <\/span><span class=\"s11\">Arbitrum\u2019s DAO governance process is self-executing, meaning the DAO\u2019s votes about on-chain actions would be effected simultaneously. To mitigate against rushed decisions, voting would take a minimum of 21 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s11\">Meanwhile, the Arbitrum foundation has also set up a 12-man council of highly regarded community representatives tasked with ensuring the chain\u2019s security and acting in the event of a security vulnerability. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s11\">Arbitrum\u2019s developer Offchain Labs CEO <\/span><span class=\"s12\">Steven Goldfeder, said the introduction of the Security Council and other features showed that the project wants to be at the forefront of a decentralized financial system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s10\">Arbitrum is the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/stablecoins-inflow-to-ethereum-l2s-rise-5-to-over-2b\/\"><span class=\"s13\">dominant L2 network<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s10\">. The scaling solution <\/span><span class=\"s14\">controls over 55% of the total value of assets locked across the layer-2 market.
