{"id":308768,"date":"2023-03-14T15:15:12","date_gmt":"2023-03-14T15:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=308768"},"modified":"2023-03-14T14:38:43","modified_gmt":"2023-03-14T14:38:43","slug":"wallets-connected-to-ftx-transfer-over-100m-stablecoins-to-exchanges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wallets-connected-to-ftx-transfer-over-100m-stablecoins-to-exchanges\/","title":{"rendered":"Wallets connected to FTX transfer over $100M stablecoins to exchanges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three addresses connected to bankrupt crypto exchange FTX and its sister trading firm <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/alameda-research\/\">Alameda Research<\/a> have moved around $145 million to crypto exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>In a March 14 tweet, on-chain analyst Lookonchain <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lookonchain\/status\/1635498285367721985?s=20\"><span class=\"s4\">reported<\/span><\/a> that the addresses transferred 69.64 million USDT to a new address, 0xad6e, which then sent 43 million USDT to Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken.<\/p>\n<p>The blockchain sleuth added that these addresses also transferred 75.94 million USDC to Coinbase's custodial wallet.<\/p>\n<p>Lookonchain said the wallets making the transactions were used to collect FTX's assets after it crashed in November 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, it was unclear why the bankrupt firm made these transfers to these exchanges as of press time. Several crypto community members have drawn speculations about the nature of these transactions.<\/p>\n<p><em>CryptoSlate<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/market-rally-pumps-bankrupt-crypto-firm-holdings\/\">reported<\/a> that crypto wallets connected to the bankrupt firm rose by more than $80 million on March 13 due to the broader market rally.<\/p>\n<h2>FTX's fund recovery effort continues<\/h2>\n<p>FTX's new management has continued its effort to recover and consolidate the assets of the bankrupt crypto firm.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the firm said it had recovered over $6 billion in cash and cryptocurrencies. However, court documents <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ftx-finds-only-1-btc-out-of-1591-customer-owned-at-time-of-collapse\/\">showed<\/a> the company's liabilities were around $9 billion \u2014 that the firm holds only 1 Bitcoin against the 1,591 it owes customers.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, as part of its efforts to fully recover the firm's assets, the FTX management wants to sell its\u00a0 $45 million <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ftx-proposes-4m-employee-bonus-plan-intends-to-sell-45m-stake-in-sequoia-capital\/\">stake<\/a> in venture capital firm Sequoia Capital to Abu Dhabi-based Al Nawwar Investments RSC Limited.<\/p>\n<p>Besides that, the firm has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-03-06\/ftx-sues-grayscale-over-fees-redemptions-from-bitcoin-ether-trusts-gbtc\">filed<\/a> a lawsuit against Grayscale Investment to unlock its Bitcoin and Ethereum Trusts so that investors can redeem their shares and reduce the management fees.<\/p>\n<p>The bankrupt exchange has also proposed a $4 million bonus plan for employees with &#8220;unique and specialized skillsets&#8221; that are difficult to replace and are critical to its case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three addresses connected to bankrupt crypto exchange FTX and its sister trading firm Alameda Research have moved around $145 million to crypto exchanges.
