These results support the NFT hype in the market. The NFT market <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/27-stats-about-nfts-in-2022-who-are-the-big-winners\/\">recorded<\/a> $55.5 billion worth of total sales in 2022. This marks a 175% increase from the $20.2 billion recorded in 2020 and a 38,903 % increase from the 2020s $142 million.<\/p>\n<p>A <em>CryptoSlate<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/total-nft-market-cap-grows-11664-in-2-years\/\">report<\/a> from December 2022 also revealed that the total NFT market cap recorded an 11,664% increase from December 2020 to December 2022, surging from $10 billion to $85 million respectively.<\/p>\n<p>This exponential growth gave birth to <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/nft-marketplace-comparison-quick-guide\/\">dozens<\/a> of NFT marketplaces and attracted corporate giants like <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/starbucks-launches-nft-loyalty-program-on-polygon\/\">Starbucks<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/metamask-onboards-nftbank-to-handle-pricing-solution-for-its-new-nft-portfolio-platform\/\">MetaMask<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/apple-to-allow-in-app-purchase-of-nfts-subject-to-30-tax-rate\/\">Apple<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/dappradar-deems-reddit-blueprint-for-nft-launches-one-of-the-biggest-events-for-web3-in-2022\/\">Reddit<\/a> into the field.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/nft-trading-volume-returns-to-pre-luna-crash-levels-in-february-dappradar\/\">data<\/a> from the end of February, the NFT trading volume returned to its pre-Luna crash levels. The NFT trading volume recorded a 117% increase from January to February and exceeded $2 billion.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to why NFTs are so popular, a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/crypto-community-sees-advantage-in-owning-nfts-52-want-to-buy-via-credit-cards\/\">study<\/a> points to the expectancy of high returns as the reason.
