Immutable, the web3 gaming company behind Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians, and the ImmutableX gaming optimized blockchain, announced “Immutable Passport” on Jan. 31.<\/p>\n

The Passport is intended to be “an all-in-one wallet, gamer profile, onboarding, and authentication solution” for web3 gaming. Immutable said its customer research confirmed that “ease of onboarding, security, compliance, and plug & play features” were the main focus of web3 gaming studios.<\/p>\n

“Passport offers a non-custodial solution that never holds the user\u2019s private keys nor is involved in signing transactions… Players get access to a secure digital wallet, protection against fraud, and seamless authentication across web3 games and marketplaces.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Immutable hope the Passport becomes as synonymous with web3 gaming as Gamertag, Steam ID, PSN ID, or Apple ID in web2. The user experience across web3 is notoriously poor, with web3 gaming often being the exception<\/a> to the rule. Web2 applications are optimized for a positive user experience, and Immutable “aims to remove web3 onboarding hurdles” by simplifying account creation and management.<\/p>\n

Immutable Co-Founder Robbie Ferguson said,<\/p>\n

\u201cFor web3 gaming to reach a billion players, onboarding must be invisible, secure, and work across any game – mobile, console or desktop. Until now, security and friction have been tradeoffs.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
