Gemini assured its users that existing redemptions are &#8220;not impacted&#8221; and said that it will seek a resolution for customers wanting to recover their assets.<\/p>\n<p>Gemini added that arranging the return of user assets is its &#8220;highest priority&#8221; and asserted that it is acting with &#8220;utmost urgency.&#8221; It said that it will provide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gemini.com\/earn\">updates<\/a> twice a week (on Tuesday and Friday) until it resolves the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Though Gemini has not publicly announced the end of Earn, the company's letter is now in general circulation on social media. Nono Mart\u00ednez Alonso, an AI researcher, has <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ycombinator.com\/item?id=34326149\">posted a copy<\/a> of the letter in its entirety to Hacker News.<\/p>\n<p>Users of Gemini Earn have been unable to access funds in their accounts for nearly two months. On Nov. 16, 2022, Gemini <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/breaking-gemini-earn-halts-withdrawals-due-to-market-turmoil-caused-by-ftx-fallout\/\">suspended Earn withdrawals<\/a> due to market conditions resulting from the collapse of FTX.<\/p>\n<p>In the months that followed, Gemini <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/gemini-formed-an-ad-hoc-committee-to-advocate-for-a-solution-for-earn-users-amid-suspension-of-withdrawals\/\">formed a committee<\/a> to resolve the situation while users attempted to pursue <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/gemini-earn-users-launch-class-arbitration-against-genesis-dcg\/\">legal arbitration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Gemini co-founder Cameron Winklevoss <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/digital-currency-group-gets-jan-8-deadline-to-resolve-gemini-earn-issues\/\">demanded a resolution<\/a> by Jan. 8. Tensions escalated further this week as Winklevoss called for Barry Silbert to be <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cameron-winklevoss-calls-for-immediate-removal-of-barry-silbert-as-dcg-ceo\/\">removed from his post<\/a> as the CEO of Genesis' parent company, Digital Currency Group. DCG in turn dismissed Winklevoss' statements as a publicity stunt.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike companies that have suspended withdrawals due to imminent bankruptcy, Gemini has only suspended one of its services and continues to operate its main exchange.
