But, in 2022, Bitcoin mining suffered a significant blow due to increasing mining difficulty, declining Bitcoin prices, and miners closing their businesses due to declining profitability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The recent downturn can be traced back to last September when the mining pool firm announced <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitcoin-mining-pool-poolin-in-distress-following-liquidity-crisis\/\">liquidity problems<\/a>.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pool accounted for approximately 12% of Bitcoin's hash rate prior to its announcement. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poolin further suspended all withdrawals, flash trades, and internal transfers from its network to preserve assets and stabilize liquidity. Consequently, many miners left the pool, resulting in a drop in hashing power and block rewards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amidst this, Poolin had the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitcoin-records-the-largest-miner-outflow-to-wallets-in-2-years\/\">largest miner outflow<\/a> in two years, amounting to 10,000 Bitcoins. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Further, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/research-bitcoin-held-by-miners-sinks-to-1-year-lows-poolin-culpable\/\">CryptoSlate's previous analysis<\/a> shows that Bitcoin held in Poolin wallets dropped sharply from 22,000 BTC in early November to 6000 BTC in December.\u00a0 It accounted for a substantial portion of the market's overall decline in balances held by miners. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Worth noting Bitcoin mining became difficult in China after the Chinese government <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitcoin-mining-difficulty-expected-to-see-largest-drop-since-china-ban\/\">banned<\/a> crypto mining in 2021.
