{"id":284581,"date":"2022-12-28T03:00:44","date_gmt":"2022-12-28T03:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=284581"},"modified":"2023-08-15T17:14:03","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T16:14:03","slug":"gold-bug-schiff-fires-back-at-cuban-over-dumb-as-fck-comment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/gold-bug-schiff-fires-back-at-cuban-over-dumb-as-fck-comment\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold bug Schiff fires back at Cuban over &#8216;dumb as f*ck&#8217; comment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Euro Pacific Capital CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PeterSchiff\/status\/1607726413662019586\">Peter Schiff<\/a> fired back at Mark Cuban in response to the entrepreneur's previous comments on gold, saying he does not understand precious metal investing.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Cuban had called gold investors &#8220;dumb as f*ck.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Cuban says he will buy more Bitcoin if the price drops<\/h2>\n<p>During a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=v6veLM-T6ZE&ab_channel=ClubRandomPodcast\">Club Random Podcast<\/a> posted on Dec. 26, host Bill Maher touched on the long-running Bitcoin vs. gold debate by weighing in with his preference for the latter.<\/p>\n<p>The billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks responded by saying, &#8220;I want Bitcoin to go down a lot further so I can buy some more.&#8221; Cuban added, &#8220;If you have gold, you're dumb as f*ck.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The ensuing debate saw Maher react by saying gold &#8220;never goes away&#8221; and &#8220;hedges against everything.&#8221; Not to be outmaneuvered, Cuban expressed doubt over the accuracy of the last statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Shark Tank host pointed out the differences between paper and physical gold, saying most gold investors fall into the former category and do not own the physical bar.<\/p>\n<p>Further, in a hypothetical SHTF scenario, the safe storage and custody of gold becomes all the more tricky.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;if everything went to hell in a hand basket and you had a gold bar, you know what would happen? Someone would beat the f*** out of you or kill you and take your gold bar.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Schiff gets personal<\/h2>\n<p>Reflecting on the back and forth, Schiff waded in by predicting a further price crash for the leading cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>With that, he attacked Cuban over his &#8220;lack of understanding&#8221; of Bitcoin and gold. He added that the billionaire's fortune is evidence that understanding money is not a prerequisite to accumulating it.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;After <span class=\"r-18u37iz\">#Bitcoin<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> crashes I hope<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\"> @mcuban <\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">does buy more as he told<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\"> @billmaher <\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">he would. It'll give others an opportunity to sell. His lack of understanding of Bitcoin is only exceeded by his lack of understanding of <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">#gold<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">. He proves that you don't have to understand money to make it.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Year-to-date, Bitcoin has lost 59% of its value.
