{"id":281951,"date":"2022-12-22T06:00:12","date_gmt":"2022-12-22T06:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=281951"},"modified":"2022-12-22T00:05:55","modified_gmt":"2022-12-22T00:05:55","slug":"november-2022-gamefi-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/november-2022-gamefi-report\/","title":{"rendered":"November 2022 GameFi Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite one of the worst possible events happening in November\u2014the complete collapse of the world's largest crypto company\u2014the <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/gamefi\">GameFi market<\/a> did not fall significantly compared to October.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This may indicate that the market, barring a systemic collapse, has reached a limit of its downside risk.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nevertheless, decreasing investment in space continued, with the amount of investment and the number of funds reaching a historic low.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amid the downturn, Polygon has performed relatively well as a gaming chain, with several large titles gaining users in November.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, November was a relatively uneventful month for GameFi, especially considering what happened in the CEX sector.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crypto Macro Overview<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the end of November, the F&G index closed higher than at the end of October.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FTX collapse stopped the F&G index recovery, causing it to fall from 40 to 20.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hitting $1,091 on Nov. 9th, Ethereum was close to dropping beneath the thousand-dollar mark but did not.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_281953\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-281953\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-281953 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-2.png\" alt=\"ETH Price VS FGI (November Report)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-2.png 1200w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-2-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-2-1024x538.png 1024w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-2-768x403.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-281953\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ETH Price VS FGI (November Report)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FTX collapse did not cause the price of ETH to drop below its June lows, despite this event being arguably more significant than the Terra Luna collapse that happened.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interestingly, BTC did drop below its June lows, which is unexpected because altcoins would previously bear the greater brunt of negative market sentiment and volatility.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One possible explanation is that this seemingly minor price action news is the first evidence of something huge: the tokenomic effects of the Merge coming to fruition. For the first time, Ethereum is less volatile than BTC.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GameFi Financing & Investment<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GameFi funding continued to fall and dropped to an ATL of $60 million in November, a decline of 69% MoM.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were just 9 rounds in the GameFi industry, led by Roboto Games and Thirdverse.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thirdverse is a Tokyo-based development studio focusing on Web3 and VR games. It received a $15 million round led by MZ Web3 Fund.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A16z was the lead investor in Roboto Games' $15 million Series A. Funds were invested in a handful of projects, most game developers and studios. Most of those rounds were for established developers with a record of publishing successful projects in Web3 or Web2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GameFi Market Overview<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The total volume in GameFi dropped from October, declining from $260 million to $100 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Transactions per user also declined sharply at the end of November but are still higher than 6 months ago.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In October, Axie Infinity's unlocking event caused an unusually high amount of traffic on Ronin. The number of users grew to over 80K.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Planet IX, a space-themed strategy game, more than tripled its users in November.
