{"id":263791,"date":"2022-09-23T10:45:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T09:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=263791"},"modified":"2022-09-23T10:35:18","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T09:35:18","slug":"cardano-rose-3-on-the-completion-of-vasil-hard-fork","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cardano-rose-3-on-the-completion-of-vasil-hard-fork\/","title":{"rendered":"Cardano up 3% following completion of Vasil hard fork"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cardano's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/cardano\/\">ADA<\/a> has reacted positively to news of the successful completion of the Vasil upgrade, rising 3.6% in the last 24 hours to trade at $0.4638.<\/p>\n<p>The Vasil upgrade went live at 9:44 pm UTC on Sept. 22, according to an\u00a0<span class=\"s4\">announcement<\/span> from Input Output.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Vasil?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Vasil<\/a> mainnet HFC event successful!\ud83c\udf7e<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re happy to announce that today, at 21:44:00 UTC, the IOG team, in collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CardanoStiftung?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CardanoStiftung<\/a>, successfully hard forked the Cardano mainnet via a HFC event, thus deploying new <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Vasil?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Vasil<\/a> features to the chain.<br \/>\ud83e\uddf61\/5<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Input Output (@InputOutputHK) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/InputOutputHK\/status\/1573067916211527681?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 22, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The hard fork will:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;bring significant performance & capability enhancements to Cardano, from higher throughput capability via diffusion pipelining to a better developer experience with much-improved script performance, efficiency & lower costs.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Vasil upgrade is its most significant improvement on Cardano since it <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cardano-ada-welcomes-much-awaited-smart-contracts-with-launch-of-alonzo\/\">enabled<\/a> smart contract functions in 2021.<\/p>\n<h2>Vasil is Cardano's most ambitious upgrade<\/h2>\n<p>IOHK described it as its most ambitious work, praising the Cardano community for making the upgrade a success.<\/p>\n<p>The Vasil upgrade had faced some <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cardano-developers-announce-second-delay-to-vasil-hard-fork\/\">delays<\/a> and was rescheduled a few times before its final launch. Following the Vasil upgrade, Cardano is developing a layer-2 scaling solution, Hydra head protocol.<\/p>\n<p>However, the upgrade's full functionality will not be available to developers until Sept. 27. According to the team, this is when a new epoch will start, and the new Plutus V2 cost model will be active on the chain.<\/p>\n<p>The community reaction to the upgrade has been positive, with many describing it as a major success. The founder of Abra Global, Bill Barhydt, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/billbarhydt\/status\/1573083464986943490\"><span class=\"s4\">said:<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Making UTXOs and inputs accessible to scripts\/Plutus without spending them is a big win for developers. Well done!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Scammers try to take advantage<\/h2>\n<p>Meanwhile, bad actors tried to exploit the excitement to promote scams.<\/p>\n<p>Several accounts masquerading as Cardano's Charles Hoskinson <span class=\"s4\">offered<\/span> to distribute millions of ADA tokens to anyone that clicked on a suspicious link.<\/p>\n<p>Hoskinson highlighted these fake accounts in one of his tweets, urging the community to report the accounts.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fake verified hoskinson.
