TRON (TRX)<\/a>\u00a0has taken the market by storm, and for good reason. It has an an outspoken, well-connected founder in Justin Sun. It is attempting to disrupt a $1 trillion global entertainment market. And it has 100 employees in its Beijing office at the helm.<\/p>\n

Currently, TRON is the 14th largest currency by market cap and it\u2019s only 6 months old. It is up over 3000%<\/strong> in the past few months.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Although massive hype is a factor for its sudden surge, the TRON Project shouldn\u2019t be overlooked. We believe TRON has the potential to surpass even the most popular currencies.<\/p>\n

What Is TRON?<\/h2>\n

TRON<\/a> is a blockchain-based open source global digital entertainment protocol that is cross-protocol for digital entertainment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

TRONix<\/a> (TRX) is the official cryptocurrency of TRON. It aims to be a decentralized content sharing platform, giving the power to the creators and consumers. They are targeting the digital entertainment industry, valued at around 1 trillion dollars yearly.<\/p>\n

The Current Problem<\/h3>\n

Currently, just about all digital media is hosted by a middleman. For example, to download an app you\u2019d use the App Store of the Google Play Store. If you want to stream music, you\u2019d use Netflix or Hulu. Spotify and iTunes music are also quite popular.<\/p>\n

These companies act as a platform for digital content sharing; they also take a fee from the creators and consumers. TRON<\/a> aims to tackle this issue by providing a medium for creators to share their content with consumers, cutting out the middlemen. All of the data is cryptographically secure via the blockchain, and the creators retain all of their profits instead of other companies taking a cut.<\/p>\n

TRON<\/a> will also protect the privacy by allowing individuals to retain their own digital footrint. Companies like Facebook, Google, Amazon, and many more make a lot of money by tracking and selling your digital footprint.<\/p>\n

TRON boasts an enormous Reddit community<\/a> of more than 50,000 subscribers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Have you ever noticed ads appearing that seem to match exactly what you just searched or watched? This is because these companies track your digital footprint (all of your searches, likes, etc.) and sell this information to companies looking to market their products. The companies then post ads themselves or pay Google, Amazon, etc. to direct ads specifically at you.<\/p>\n

With a decentralized entertainment sharing platform, this is no longer possible.<\/p>\n

TRON aims to take this power away from big companies and give it back to the people by keeping your digital footprint cryptographically secure. You control the data and can decide what happens to it.<\/p>\n

Creators will be incentivized via initial coin offerings\u00a0to add their projects to the blockchain. The consumer is then able to use the TRON ERC20 token to view these creations.<\/p>\n

Unlike other popular cryptocurrencies, the TRX token cannot be mined with a mining GPU<\/a>, or anything for that matter.<\/p>\n

Mineable cryptocurrencies use a proof of work<\/a> system, where miners pay for electricity to power there mining hardware and receive coins in return.<\/p>\n

The TRON<\/a> Developers have a specific plan set in place. Its first four phases set to end by 2023, and the last two phases by 2027. Here they are:<\/p>\n

  2. Odyssey:<\/strong> Economic incentives put in place to encourage content creation and empowerment<\/li>\n

  4. Apollo:<\/strong> Ability for content producers to issue personal tokens (TRON ERC20 Token)<\/li>\n
  5. Star Trek:<\/strong> Creating a decentralized online gaming platform, monetizing traffic<\/li>\n
  6. Eternity:<\/strong> Developers can create their games on the TRON network; crowdfunding for the games is also made possible via the TRON network<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    It\u2019s nice to see some structure from the development team, rather than a goal without any tangible steps to accomplish it. Speaking of the dev team, let\u2019s get to know them a bit better.<\/p>\n

    Justin Sun is the CEO of TRON. He\u2019s just 27 years old but has already achieved quite a lot. After graduating from Peking University with a bachelor\u2019s degree, he received his master\u2019s from the University of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

    He became a prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of China\u2019s tycoon Jack Ma, chairman of the Alibaba Group. He\u2019s also won Forbes\u2019 30 under 30 three different times.<\/p>\n

    TRON\u2019s development team is no joke either. Justin Sun doesn\u2019t hesitate to announce all of the top Alibaba executives joining the TRON development team<\/a>. This project is spearheaded by brilliant minds.<\/p>\n

    Currently TRON\u2019s only office is located in Beijing, China. Recently Justin Sun hosted a live stream on his Twitter<\/a> account. He claimed their China office has around 100 employees.<\/p>\n

    He also announced that a San Francisco office is soon to be opened. It seems TRON\u2019s footprint is pretty large, especially considering a new office in the United States. It's safe to say that TRON isn\u2019t going away any time soon.<\/p>\n

    TRON's Investors and Partners<\/h2>\n

    Not only is TRON backed by hundreds of thousands of regular people, it also has the support of some of the richest businessmen in the world.<\/p>\n

    Wei Dai is an investor in TRON and the founder of Ofo, a Beijing-based bicycle sharing company founded in 2014.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

    Wei Dai is the founder of ofo, the biggest shared bicycles provider in China with an estimated value of over 3 billion dollars has invested in TRON<\/a>. He\u2019s joined by multiple famous angel investors including Weixing Chen, Charles Xue, and more.<\/p>\n

    We\u2019ve only mentioned a few of the dozens of wealthy businessmen who have invested a considerable amount in TRON.<\/p>\n

    While we\u2019re on the topic of investors, let\u2019s talk about TRON\u2019s partners. It seems as though Alibaba is trying to get involved in the cryptocurrency realm by partnering with TRON<\/a>. However, China\u2019s policy towards crypto ideal — it recently banned Bitcoin trading. It\u2019ll be interesting to see what Jack Ma (a leading Alibaba executive) decides to do.<\/p>\n

    They\u2019ve also partnered with Baofeng, considered to be Chinese Netflix. Considering TRON aims to tackle the digital media market, their decision to back the platform that may put them out of business is quite interesting.<\/p>\n

    oBike is Singapore's first homegrown stationless bicycle-sharing system with operations in several countries.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

    TRON has another big partnership planned for January of 2018 with oBike. oBike partnered with TRON to officially launch their own coin called oCoin. oCoin will be used to pay for rides with the oBike corporation.<\/p>\n

    In addition to oBike, TRON also recently announced partnerships with Game.com<\/a>\u00a0and Peiwo, a social networking app in China.<\/p>\n

    Unlike some of the other joke coins, TRON<\/a> is a serious project with big investors and a bright future.<\/p>\n

    TRON\u2019s Price Movement<\/h2>\n

    Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who talk negatively about cryptocurrencies without understanding the technicals. For example, Bitcoin has blown up in the mainstream media and there is constant talk about it being in a bubble, saying it can\u2019t possibly raise any higher in price.<\/p>\n

    Of course, that\u2019s what they said the last time Bitcoin\u2019s price rose; and they\u2019ll say it again when Bitcoin reaches $25,000.<\/p>\n

    Anyway, many people say cryptocurrencies are very volatile. Well, this is true. However, if you know how to read cryptocurrency price charts<\/a>, you can make good money.<\/p>\n

    TRON<\/a> is no exception. Just under a month ago, one TRON token was worth around two cents. Within a month\u2019s time it skyrocketed to nearly $0.30. Since then, it has pulled back to around $0.08.<\/p>\n

    TRON has exploded in price over the past 3 months, from a low $0.00266 to a current price of $0.08 — a gain 3000%.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

    TRON\u2019s value is based on market speculation just like any other cryptocurrency; when the market rises too fast, it will correct itself.<\/p>\n

    So, why did TRON<\/a> move so quickly? Is it solely based on people hyping it up, or is there something more?<\/h3>\n

    The price skyrocketed far too quickly and corrected itself; that\u2019s obvious. Despite this, we believe the TRON project has a lot of potential.<\/p>\n

    That being said, TRON<\/a> won\u2019t do well in the long term if it continues exploding in price. A fundamental business behind the token is crucial for success in the long term. For the TRON token to be successful, it needs to see slow, yet steady growth.<\/p>\n

    White Paper Controversy<\/h2>\n

    TRON has been embroiled in some controversy over the past few weeks after Juan Benet<\/a>, who works for IPFS, produced an analysis that shows large sections of the TRON whitepaper were plagiarized from several other projects including Filecoin and IPFS.<\/p>\n

    Justin Sun responded blamed the controversy on poor translation, stating:<\/p>\n

    \u201cOur original version of the whitepaper is in Chinese and we have a very detailed reference to the latest Chinese version. The English, Korea, Japanese and Spanish versions are translated by the volunteers. The translation missed numerous important details not just reference.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Whether it is poor translation or not, it is a glaring error for an otherwise exciting and potentially transformative entertainment distribution platform.<\/p>\n

    Where to Buy TRON<\/h2>\n

    Unlike popular currencies like Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum, you can\u2019t outright buy TRON with USD. Instead you have to trade for it —\u00a0you\u2019ll have to buy either Bitcoin<\/a>\u00a0or Ethereum<\/a> from an exchange like Coinbase or Gemini. After that, you\u2019ll send it to a an altcoin exchange like Binance or Liqui. From here, you can exchange your Bitcoin or Ethereum for TRON<\/a>.<\/p>\n
