{"id":259858,"date":"2022-09-06T11:30:11","date_gmt":"2022-09-06T10:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=259858"},"modified":"2022-09-06T21:56:56","modified_gmt":"2022-09-06T20:56:56","slug":"crypto-whale-sends-over-200k-btc-to-exchanges-as-concerns-over-selling-pressure-looms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/crypto-whale-sends-over-200k-btc-to-exchanges-as-concerns-over-selling-pressure-looms\/","title":{"rendered":"Crypto whale alleged to be Saylor sent over 200K BTC to exchanges in July; community in doubt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">BTC<\/a>) whale sent over 200,000 BTC to Coinbase between July 18 and July 21, according to a tweet from CryptoVinco on Sept. 5.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">One of the biggest <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> whales with over 200K+ <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24BTC&src=ctag&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$BTC<\/a> sent ALL of their coins to exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>I&#39;m 99% certain this is Michael Saylor&#39;s Bitcoin address, and they&#39;re planning to sell everything.<\/p>\n<p>When he soon sells, expect a bloodbath to the likes we&#39;ve never seen ever before. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vx643TPAyg\">pic.twitter.com\/vx643TPAyg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; CryptoVinco (@CryptoVinco) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoVinco\/status\/1566802531250044933?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 5, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>CryptoVinco said he is 99% sure that the wallet belongs to Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of MicroStrategy and a renowned Bitcoin maximalist.<\/p>\n<p>CryptoSlate could not confirm if the wallet belonged to Saylor or MicroStrategy.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, Bitcoin transfers to exchanges represent a decision to sell the holdings.<\/p>\n<h2>The Crypto community doubts Michael Saylor's connection to the wallet<\/h2>\n<p>Many within the crypto community are surprised by CryptoVinco's conviction that the wallet belongs to Michael Saylor.<\/p>\n<p>According to community members, the wallet in question holds more BTC than MicroStrategy, which is currently around 129,699 BTC, according to CoinGecko data.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Blockchain explorer data\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blockchain.com\/btc\/address\/1P5ZEDWTKTFGxQjZphgWPQUpe554WKDfHQ\">showed<\/a> that the whale wallet had transacted 851 times, receiving 241,914 BTCs and spending all. The wallet has a balance of less than $200 as of press time.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Michael Saylor has always <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/microstrategy-could-defend-21k-btc-to-stop-a-margin-call\/\">maintained<\/a> that his firm would continue to hodl its Bitcoin holdings regardless of its price performance &#8211;evidence of this was its purchase of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/saylors-faith-in-bitcoin-unshaken-as-microstrategy-buys-another-480-btc\/\">additional\u00a0<\/a>480 BTCs during the thick of the bear market.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Bitcoin whales on the move<\/h2>\n<p>A Bitcoin whale address created in 2013, which has been inactive since May 2021, recently moved 5,000 BTC to the Kraken exchange, according to OKLink <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oklink.com\/en\/btc\/address\/18xGHNrU26w6HSCEL8DD5o1whfiDaYgp6i\">data<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Transfers of this nature raise concerns about increased selling pressures. However, it could also mean the whale was moving assets to another address.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, CryptoQuant <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoquant.com\/quicktake\/6314fdee80ea0578fcad91ea-Old-BTC\">data<\/a> showed that long-term holders are moving their BTC to derivatives exchanges. It means whales could use their assets to set up long positions or hedge spot positions using shorts.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Santiment stated that the number of new wallets holding between 100 to 10,0000 BTCs increased by 103 in the last 30 days, as of Aug. 28.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udc33 As <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> has danced around $20,000 this weekend, a positive sign is the growth in the amount of key whale addresses.
