We have summarized the details in this thread\u2b07\ufe0f<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Kyber Network (@KyberNetwork) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KyberNetwork\/status\/1565421305410686976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 1, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>Hacker inserted malicious code into KyberSwap's frontend<\/h2>\n<p>According to Kyber Network, its team &#8220;identified a malicious code in our Google Tag Manager (GTM)which inserted a false approval, allowing a hacker to transfer users' funds to his address.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kyber continued that the threat was &#8220;neutralized&#8221; within two hours, assuring its users that it is now &#8220;<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">safe to use all <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">KyberSwap<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> functions.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>KyberSwap is a multi-chain decentralized exchange (DEX) that allows users to swap tokens between different blockchains. Kyber revealed that the hack only affected the DEX's user interface.<\/p>\n<p>The Kyber team has assured the affected wallets that they will be compensated.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">4\/ USD$265K of user funds were lost, with 2 affected addresses, and users will be compensated. Let&#39;s work together as one <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DeFi?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DeFi<\/a> community to defend against these malicious attacks<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Kyber Network (@KyberNetwork) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KyberNetwork\/status\/1565421317003784192?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 1, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Kyber Network's KNC token has risen by 1.7% in the last 24 hours to $1.76 despite the hack.<\/p>\n<h2>DeFi hacks on the up<\/h2>\n<p>A recent token terminal report <a href=\"https:\/\/tokenterminal.substack.com\/p\/defi-exploits-trends-patterns-and?sd=pf\">revealed<\/a> that over $4.2 billion had been stolen over the past two years due to lacking security practices in DeFi.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Bureau of Investigation also <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/fbi-warns-against-defi-says-it-accounts-for-97-of-stolen-1-3b-from-january-to-march\/\">said<\/a> that 97% of stolen $1.3 billion crypto assets in the first quarter of this year were from DeFi protocols.<\/p>\n<p>In August alone, the crypto space witnessed several hacks that led to the loss of over $150 million.
