Without it, Teku will report a Merge transition configuration error&#8221; or &#8220;Execution Client is offline.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, it &#8220;sets the Bellatrix fork epoch and TTD (terminal total difficulty) for The Merge on MainNet&#8221; and simplifies the standard REST API use.<\/p>\n<p>Other improvements include the configuration of multiple beacon nodes for one validator, primed cache for new justified endpoints, and the ability to stay in optimistic mode even without a viable branch in the block tree.<\/p>\n<p>The update also fixes several bugs, such as the &#8220;NullPointerException,&#8221; repeated timeout exceptions, and the calculated payload issue.<\/p>\n<p>The tweet also included a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.teku.consensys.net\/en\/22.8.1\/HowTo\/Prepare-for-The-Merge\/\"><span class=\"s4\">document<\/span><\/a> explaining how Teku beacon nodes users and validators can prepare for merge.<\/p>\n<h2>Geth releases Merge update<\/h2>\n<p>Ethereum client Go Ethereum (Geth) has released \u00a0Geth v1.10.22 (Promavess), its first merge update.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A long time in the making, the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Ethereum?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Ethereum<\/a> Merge is finally arriving!<\/p>\n<p>We&#39;ve just released Geth v1.10.22 (Promavess), our first mainnet-merge release. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/golang?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#golang<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please note, The Merge will require both an execution client (Geth) and a consensus client.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lv6RrLgzYX\">https:\/\/t.co\/lv6RrLgzYX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Go Ethereum (@go_ethereum) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/go_ethereum\/status\/1561674150053400578?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 22, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to Geth's GitHub, the update <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ethereum\/go-ethereum\/releases\/tag\/v1.10.22\">enables<\/a> Ethereum mainnet merge at a Terminal Total Difficulty 58750000000000000000000 scheduled for September 15.<\/p>\n<p>According to available information, it would take an average of 872.2 TH\/s to achieve the required final TTD. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oklink.com\/en\/eth\/merge\"><span class=\"s4\">current hash rate <\/span><\/a>is around that range with a total difficulty of 56938771076282196928114.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement added that &#8220;the Merge will require both an execution client (Geth) and a consensus client.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Interest in staking soars<\/h2>\n<p>Interest in staking has also increased in the past few weeks as <a href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/address\/0x00000000219ab540356cbb839cbe05303d7705fa\">data<\/a> on Etherscan shows that the contract address balance is now at 13,344,424 (over $20 billion).<\/p>\n<p>OKLink <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oklink.com\/zh-cn\/chainhub\/eth\/chart-details\/47?startTime=1604332800000&tabs=dashboard\">data<\/a> showed that staking now accounts for roughly 11.17% of Ethereum's total supply. It continued that 153,000 ETHs have been staked since August, with around 36,000 ETH added weekly.<\/p>\n<h2>Ethereum price tumbles<\/h2>\n<p>Ethereum's price has declined by over 18% within the last seven days as the community continues to discuss how the merge could affect how censorship resistant the asset becomes.<\/p>\n<p>According to CryptoSlate data, Ethereum's price slid below $1600 to as low as $1556 on August 20.<\/p>\n<p>Ethermine, Ethereum's largest miner, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ethereum-is-under-attack-as-u-s-sanctions-apply-at-a-protocol-level\/\">stopped<\/a> processing Tornado Cash-related transactions in the wake of the sanction on the crypto mixer. DeFi platforms like <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/aave\">Aave<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/uniswap\">Uniswap<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/balancer\">Balancer<\/a>, and others also <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/defi-protocols-aave-uniswap-balancer-ban-users-following-ofac-sanctions-on-tornado-cash\/\">barred<\/a> addresses connected to the sanctioned platform.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coinbase-will-shut-down-staking-service-if-regulators-request-censoring-transactions\/\">revealed<\/a> that the firm would shut its staking services if regulators requested it to censor transactions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ethereum 2.0 client Teku released the version 22.8.1 update on August 22, including the Bellatrix network upgrade and Merge configuration.
