Please regard this as a planning timeline and look out for official announcements!<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ttutBceZ21\">https:\/\/t.co\/ttutBceZ21<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MY8VFOv0SI\">pic.twitter.com\/MY8VFOv0SI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; superphiz.eth \ud83e\udd87\ud83d\udd0a\ud83d\udc3c (@superphiz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/superphiz\/status\/1547643255335968771?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 14, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>However, the date isn't a hard deadline and only serves as an unofficial roadmap.<\/p>\n<p>One of the project developers, superphiz.eth, <span class=\"s4\">tweeted that the date should be treated as a &#8220;planning timeline,&#8221; adding that the community should still &#8220;look out for official announcements.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The September 19 suggestion does not surprise many observers who expect the Merge to happen around that period.<\/p>\n<p>But some people are still skeptical about the date and expect another delay. A Twitter user sarcastically <span class=\"s4\">mentioned<\/span> how there was no mention of the year and predicted the Merge won't happen until 2050.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Note how <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/benjaminion_xyz?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@benjaminion_xyz<\/a> does not mention the year. See ya in 2050!<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Butta.eth\ud83d\udc3c (@Butta_eth) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Butta_eth\/status\/1547644912958525444?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 14, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the developers' decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/what-does-the-gray-glacier-upgrade-mean-for-the-ethereum-merge\/\">delay<\/a> the Ethereum time Bomb also cast doubts on the\u00a0 September date.<\/p>\n<p>While debating whether to delay the Ethereum time bomb, some developers called for a hard deadline. But Beiko pushed against this, claiming that the team was under immense pressure already.<\/p>\n<p>Beiko previously said the Ethereum merge would <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/the_ethereum_community_debates_when_the_merge_will_happen\/\">occur<\/a> between August and November unless a significant event prevented it.<\/p>\n<p>Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said something similar. According to him, the Merge will <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/vitalik-buterin-gives-an-estimate-on-ethereum-2-0s-completion-status\/\">happen<\/a> in August if there are no problems. But it can also occur in September or October.<\/p>\n<h2>Ethereum shadow fork 9<\/h2>\n<p>While the actual date of the Merge is not set in stone, other network upgrades are happening as planned.<\/p>\n<p>Ethereum <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/eth-clients\/merge-testnets\/tree\/main\/mainnet-shadow-fork-9\">Shadow Fork 9<\/a> recently went live. According to a DevOps engineer at the Ethereum Foundation, Paritosh, the developers mainly tested updates and releases on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/tech\/2022\/07\/06\/ethereums-sepolia-testnet-successfully-transitions-to-proof-of-stake\/\">Sepolia hard fork<\/a> with &#8220;a more intensive network.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Shadow Fork 9 happened on July 14, earlier than predicted. Paritosh said this was because of &#8220;a minor spike in hashrate that sped up things a bit&#8221; and the calculation error of the developers estimating the time.<\/p>\n<p>There have been no glitches since the Shadow Fork went live, and it sets the stage for the Goerli testnet Merge.
