{"id":246232,"date":"2022-06-30T18:51:07","date_gmt":"2022-06-30T17:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=246232"},"modified":"2022-06-30T18:54:59","modified_gmt":"2022-06-30T17:54:59","slug":"ftx-discarded-celsius-deal-after-reportedly-finding-2b-missing-from-its-balance-sheet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ftx-discarded-celsius-deal-after-reportedly-finding-2b-missing-from-its-balance-sheet\/","title":{"rendered":"FTX discarded Celsius deal after reportedly finding $2B missing from its balance sheet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FTX has walked away from a deal to acquire Celsius after reviewing its balance sheet and finding a &#8220;$2 billion hole,&#8221; according to a June 30 report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/155069\/ftx-walked-away-from-celsius-deal\"><em>The Block<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Two sources reportedly told <em>The Block<\/em> that &#8220;FTX found the company difficult to deal with&#8221; and ultimately passed on a deal due to &#8220;the state of its finances.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>FTX has recently begun talks with another crypto platform, BlockFi, which has also experienced liquidity issues following the downfall of Terra Luna.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/nansen-report-reveals-terra-caused-the-steth-depeg-and-crippled-celsius-3ac\/\">Nansen report<\/a> identified how &#8220;Three Arrows Capital &#8220;withdrew a sizable amount of 29,054 stETH from BlockFi&#8221; on June 7, which was worth around $50 million at the time. FTX swooped in to offer a<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/blockfi-gets-250-million-credit-facility-from-ftx-to-support-platform\/\"> $250 million line of credit<\/a> to BlockFi and may now take over the entire operation if a deal can be made.<\/p>\n<p>FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried also<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ftx-ceo-sam-bankman-fried-now-single-largest-shareholder-of-voyager-digital\/\"> personally acquired shares<\/a> in Voyager Digital after FTX's parent company, Alameda Ventures, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ftx-ceo-sam-bankman-fried-now-single-largest-shareholder-of-voyager-digital\/\">issued <\/a>a $200 million and 15K Bitcoin loan to the exchange.<\/p>\n<p>SBF, through FTX and Alameda Ventures, appears ready to shop for deals amid the contagion from the collapse of Terra Luna.<\/p>\n<p>Celsius was valued at $3.5 billion following <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/celsius-cel-announces-massive-750-million-funding-for-its-ecosystem\/\">a raise of $750 million<\/a> in late 2021.
