The company <a href=\"https:\/\/opensea.io\/blog\/safety-security\/important-update-on-email-vendor-security-incident\/\">said<\/a> that the email addresses users and newsletter subscribers provided to OpenSea were impacted.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;If you have shared your email with OpenSea in the past, you should assume you were impacted,&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">OpenSea noted that the data breach could lead to email <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/glossary\/phishing\/\"><span class=\"s1\">phishing<\/span><\/a> attempts, warning users to beware of any emails they receive that don't come from OpenSea's official domain.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">1) We will ONLY send you emails from the domain \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3qvMZjxmDB\">https:\/\/t.co\/3qvMZjxmDB<\/a>.\u2019 Be aware of attempts to impersonate OpenSea through slight variations of our domain name, like below: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2tvgC6g3kD\">pic.twitter.com\/2tvgC6g3kD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; OpenSea (@opensea) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/opensea\/status\/1542338818736394240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 30, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Customer.io has already launched an investigation into the matter and the incident has been reported to law enforcement, the company said. Users have already begun reporting an uptick in phishing emails from fake OpenSea domains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This isn't the first time OpenSea users were targeted by phishing scams. In February this year, close to $2 million worth of NFTs were stolen in an <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/opensea-phishing-attack-heres-what-happened\/\"><span class=\"s1\">elaborate phishing attack<\/span><\/a> that affected 32 users. The attack caused activities on OpenSea to <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/recent-phishing-attack-drops-opensea-numbers\/\"><span class=\"s1\">drop<\/span><\/a> significantly, with the platform losing over a third of its trading volume and a fifth of its users.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Marketing tools such as email newsletter platforms and customer relationship management (CRM) software continue to be a weak link in the security of many crypto and blockchain platforms. In March, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hackread.com\/hubspot-data-breach-cryptocurrency-companies-impacted\/\">data breach at HubSpot<\/a>, one of the most popular marketing campaign platforms, affected over two dozen large crypto companies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">BlockFi, Circle, Swan Bitcoin, Pantera Capital, and NYDIG all reported that a portion of its users' information was leaked to hackers.
