The company has also seen its share price drop from highs of $342 per share down to just $69, a decline of 79%.<\/p>\n<p>Changes to its terms and conditions also sparked concerns as the wording around potential &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coinbase-bankruptcy-wording-triggers-warnings-to-move-crypto-off-exchanges\/\">bankruptcy<\/a>&#8216; was updated in May. Even with the announcement of new offerings such as its <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coinbase-launches-nft-marketplace-with-personalization-feature\/\">NFT marketplace<\/a>, Coinbase struggles to maintain momentum during this bear market.<\/p>\n<h2>FTX thriving<\/h2>\n<p>FTX is now the second-largest centralized exchange by trading volume, according to Coinmarketcap. Binance still tops the chart with a massive $17 billion per day, but FTX now trades over $2 billion per day in second place.<\/p>\n<p>Further, the FTX token, FTT, is in fourth place among centralized exchange tokens according to the chart in <em>CyptoSlate's<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cryptos\/cex\/\">asset directory.<\/a> The FTT token is up 5% weekly, with only Bitfinex's LEO outperforming it at position 2 with an 8% gain in the last seven days.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, a <a href=\"https:\/\/ftx.com\/volume-monitor\">volume monitoring<\/a> tool on the FTX website suggests that OKX has the second-highest spot volume at $5 billion per day. However, Coin Gecko lists FTX in the number two spot among exchanges with a 10\/10 trust score. Other exchanges such as WhiteBIT, LBank, and XT.com report higher spot trading volumes, but these exchanges currently have a 9\/10 trust score by Coin Gecko. It is unknown why FTX says OKX trading volume is so much higher than other sources.<\/p>\n<h2>FTX IPO<\/h2>\n<p>FTX increased has more than doubled its userbase during the final quarter of 2021, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Brett_FTX\/status\/1475195618926735364\">tweet<\/a> by its president. Conversely, Coinbase reported a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/coinbase-to-slow-hiring-spree-as-users-drop-off-11652806219?mod=markets_lead_pos12\">$430 million<\/a> loss amid a decline in usage.<\/p>\n<p>The US exchange, FTX, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-02-01\/feeble-ipos-give-ftx-ceo-pause-on-taking-his-crypto-giant-public\">has yet to go public<\/a> with an IPO as the board fears launching into a bear market. The company was valued at around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/a8714df8-a408-48de-a2a9-c5295332a0be\">$32 billion<\/a> at the start of the year, so a future IPO could start at an even higher valuation, given its recent success.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The spot Bitcoin trading volume on FTX has surpassed Coinbase for the first time, hitting $30 billion in a single month.
