{"id":240494,"date":"2022-05-31T18:00:37","date_gmt":"2022-05-31T17:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=240494"},"modified":"2022-05-31T16:01:07","modified_gmt":"2022-05-31T15:01:07","slug":"crypto-investment-sees-87m-inflow-despite-bear-market-sentiments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/crypto-investment-sees-87m-inflow-despite-bear-market-sentiments\/","title":{"rendered":"Crypto investment sees $87M inflow despite bearish market sentiment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Digital assets investments products saw $87 million in inflows during the week of May 23, despite a mostly bearish market sentiment, CoinShares weekly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.coinshares.com\/volume-82-digital-asset-fund-flows-weekly-report-a8c4e076188a\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reveals.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoin sees inflow in bearish market<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The latest report shows that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">BTC<\/a>)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> saw $69 million in inflows, bringing its year-to-date inflows to $369 million. With the asset trading below the $30,000 level last week, its price performance brought the total value of the asset under management to $24.7 billion \u2014 the lowest it has been since July 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The negative sentiment could be seen in its short BTC positions, which saw close to $2 million in inflow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ethereum<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> continued its negative fund flow trajectory with $11.6 million in outflows, bringing total outflows to $250 million in 2022.\u00a0<\/span>However, investors think this is nothing to worry about due to Ethereum's merge drawing closer.<\/p>\n<p>Wes Cowan, a managing director at Valkyrie, reportedly said his firm is &#8220;risk-on because we have been accumulating Ether every single day&#8221; \u2014 an indication of investors' faith in the asset.<\/p>\n<h2>Algorand sees record investment<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other major altcoins like <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/algorand\/\">Algorand<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/solana\/\">Solana<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/tron\/\">Tron<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> saw positive inflows. According to the data, Algorand had a record $20 million inflow while Solana saw $1.8 million and Tron $0.4 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The chief executive of Alpha Impact, Hayden Hughs, told <\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-05-30\/bitcoin-may-still-be-primed-for-a-further-drop-from-range\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bloomberg News<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We're seeing heavy buying of Ether and several altcoins, and these patterns mirror what we saw in the July 2021 bear market bottom and the January 2022 local bottom.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Purpose Bitcoin ETF was also responsible for most inflows among digital asset investment providers as it received $75.6 million from investors during the week, taking its AuM to $1.35 billion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Investors in Europe and North America appear to share the same sentiments, with investment products in the regions seeing inflows of $15.5 million and $72 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, the performance of these investments represents a good change for the industry after it <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitcoin-ethereum-lead-outflows-as-crypto-investments-see-red-week\/\">recorded $141 million in outflows<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> during the prior week.
