Proposal to burn the remaining UST in the community pool. <br \/>2. TFL will burn the remaining 371 million UST cross-chain on Ethereum. <br \/>3. TFL just staked 240 million <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24LUNA&src=ctag&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$LUNA<\/a> to defend from network governance attacks.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Terra (UST) \ud83c\udf0d Powered by LUNA \ud83c\udf15 (@terra_money) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/terra_money\/status\/1524654729753956352?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 12, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approximately $1 billion UST remains in the community pool, according to the proposal. With the $371 million UST on cross-chain ethereum, the total amount in question is a little higher than $1.3 billion UST. This equates to about 11% of the outstanding UST liabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The team hopes to reduce the UST circulation by roughly 8.05% with the burn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Staking LUNA<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project team also staked 240 million LUNA to strengthen the network governance. The amount equates to $200 million, and some community members seem to think that it won\u2019t be enough to save the project.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Regarding 3, the way things are going you would need to stake a lot more than 240 million <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24LUNA&src=ctag&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$LUNA<\/a> to ensure the safety of the network. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24LUNA&src=ctag&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$LUNA<\/a> crashing in price and having the peg not restored is also a problem, the longer it takes the more <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24LUNA&src=ctag&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$LUNA<\/a> gets minted.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Meto (\ud83d\udc8e,\ud83d\udd3a\ufe0f) (@hodlmastermeto) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hodlmastermeto\/status\/1524661715740381185?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 12, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2><b>Earlier proposal to increase burning rates<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The burn plan also refers to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/agora.terra.money\/t\/proposal-help-ust-pegging-increase-estimated-minting-capacity-to-1200m\/6287\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">proposal 1164<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which was released yesterday and aimed at increasing the burn rate of UST.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proposal 1164 offers to increase the mining capacity from $293 million to $1200 million by doubling the size of the Base Pool and halving the number of Pool Recovery Blocks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The proposal states:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>\u201cYes, billion of UST will be burned, and LUNA will be diluted significantly. Nevertheless, there are no limit in LUNA supply, this market mechanism will actually work to bring stable UST and stable LUNA price (although likely at lower price point for LUNA).\u201d<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both proposals are still open for voting at the time of writing. Proposal 1188 has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/station.terra.money\/proposal\/1188\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">99% Yes votes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and will remain open for voting for another seven days.
