In a deal that looked too good to be true, it may actually be going through.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On April 14, just over a week ago Elon Musk, one of the world's richest men, made an irresistible offer to the shareholders of Twitter to buy the company outright at 54.20 USD per share. At the time of his offering, the price of 54.20 per share in cash was a &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/0001418091\/000110465922045641\/tm2212748d1_sc13da.htm\">54% premium<\/a> over the day before he had originally begun investing in Twitter&#8221; says Musk in his filing to the securities and exchange commission.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Musk who already owned 9.2% of Twitter had demonstrated his belief and interest in the company. It had also been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/twitter-shareholders-enter-discussions-with-musk-over-takeover-offer\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported earlier<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Musk was in advanced discussions regarding his takeover offer.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The battle for free speech<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Musk believes that the company will not excel in its current form and should be transformed into a private company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Addressing the Chairman of the Twitter board Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/0001418091\/000110465922045641\/tm2212748d1_sc13da.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">outlined<\/a> his belief in free speech and the need to transform Twitter into a private company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a call to action, Musk asked even his critics to stay on Twitter as this was the power of free speech.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1518623997054918657?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 25, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of his broader plans for the platform, Musk outlined last week that he would tackle the ongoing issues with spam bots that have plagued profiles across the platform.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If our twitter bid succeeds, we will defeat the spam bots or die trying!<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1517215066550116354?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 21, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dogecoin, the famous meme coin associated with Musk has rocketed by 18.41% in the last 24 hours, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/dogecoin\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cryptoslate data<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
